I don't like the phrase because it supports an arbitrary divide, an "us and them" of gamers and non-gamers. I wouldn't have such a problem with it if it was just literal, like viewers and non-viewers being literally what it sounds like, but in order to be a 'gamer', you don't just have to play games, you don't just have to play games alot, you have to play specific kinds of games alot. Another poster yesterday said that people who play GTA, Halo and Mario aren't necessarily gamers.

The sooner we get beyond the notion of 'gamer' as an exclusive club, the sooner gaming will cease to be marginalised by the general public. I don't want to see gaming go the way of the comic book industry.

Welcome to modern Gaming "Press".  The sooner those dinosaurs evolve or die out, the better.

Remember back when stuff like Madden, GTA and console FPS were fare for casual gamers?  Le sigh...

lol, brining up Muramasa, MadWorld and Little King's Story again. can't we leave them to rest when it comes to proving sales. Try naming a game that is the equivalent to what sells on the other systems, like Assassin's Creed type of game. Monster Hunter 3 is the only one I can think of off the top of my head.

Maybe someone should go create a HD hardcore gaming is dead because Bionic Commando deserved to sell more.

There are more "gamer's games" (ugh) that sold fantastically if you're allowed to include Nintendo made ones. But we're not for some reason...

you both make good points and I agree with you both. looking back I didn't word my point very well.

im not so much concerned with the sales of these games but the knock on effect they might have. if they selll poor then less will come out. I'm just pointing out that it does seem to be a trend and asked if its a sign of bad things for upcoming games like NMH2 and Metroid Other M, I  hope not and that people who like these types of games play them instead of not knowing of their existence until they're ported to 360/PS3 which seems to have happened with the original NMH.

sorry for the gamers games phrase demotruk I hate it to but felt I needed to use it for the point I was making, wii music is a game and if someone plays that for 10 hours a week who's to say they aren't as hardcore as Call of Duty gamers

Exactly correct, and why using Madworld as an example (a game that lasts about 10 hours and has a replay value that involves simply doing it again) is not great. I have played Wii Play for longer.

Just a question for clarification. NA is certainly showing far more console demand than supply. Is the same happening in others? Because if it is, and Nintendo is able to meet the higher demand, that would certainly mean more people buying consoles and games for it, though I don't pretend that it would be a significant bump.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

i brought madworld it was good but i wouldn't recommend it to anyone, you can hire the game out and beat it in 1 day.. also theirs no replay value, its a damn niche title, these titles does not get a million in sales.. what part of of niche titles sale bad don't publishers, developers and fanboys understand? do they want me to spell it out for them?

I doubt the same thing is happening in others. 1) We have no evidence of it happening, and 2) the reason for the increased demand in the U.S. is not as prominent in others, NSMB didn't quite hit it off in Europe the way it did in the U.S.

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.
