The units on sale during this period will not suffer the fate of the earlier models. I also suspect that if Natal captures the heart of the casual gamer market that they will be unlikely to worry about early problems seeing the product as new.
The HD Consoles could learn a thing about about relaunching the same thing but different. One only has to look at the life of the DS to see how easily a desireable product can be continually relaunched successfully.
