Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Patcher:Microsoft to cut Xbox360 price when Wand arrives.

2010 will be a critical year for both of Sony and Microsoft. In fact, it might be the year that determines the winner of the HD war. Exclusive games, cutting prices and releasing new peripherals are some of the strategies those companies will be using to attract consumers.

Anyways, on the latest episode of Bonus Round on gametrailers.com, the infamous videogames analysis Michael Patcher has predicted that Microsoft will be cutting down the price of the Xbox360 when Sony launches its motion-sensing game controller code name Wand.

Maybe, but they do have Natal. I'm sure Microsoft will wait to see the sells before lowering the console price again.

Granted 360 costs very little to make now, so I wouldn't be surprised to see another price drop by Q4 this year.

  • 2010 MUST Haves: WKC, Heavy Rain, GoWIII, Fable III, Mass Effect 2, Bayonetta, Darksiders, FFXIII, Alan Wake, No More Heroes 2, Fragile Dreams: FRotM, Trinity: SoZ, BFBC2.
  • Older Need To Buys: Super Mario Bros. Wii, Mario Kart Wii, Deadspace, Demon's Souls, Uncharted 2.

There is definitely more to list that I want, but that's my main focus there.

I am saying it,

Sony will decrease the price again this year by $50 to $249,before the $100 price cut in 2011 fall with probably a PS3 SLIMMER and then launching PS4 in 2012 as PS3 completes its 6 year cycle like PS1 and PS2 and PSP this year

Sony's willingness to take risks leaves it in a really good position. Whatever Microsoft does with its price, you can be sure Sony will match it, which leaves Microsoft in a tough spot. Is it really worth lowering the price and getting less money when Sony will do the same? What if Sony's reduced price leads more consumers to the deliciously dirt cheap blu-ray player then newcomers to the cheaper 360?

@IvorEvile,

Really Sony matched the last 360 price cut didnt they? Sooner rather than later Sony is going to want to have the PS3 start trending towards black rather than stay in the red.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

This guy gets better and better. If anything they will keep itthe same because Natal will likely boost sales. So, why cut the price? I dont think M$ are that worried about the wand.

I don't think so. Microsoft will probably just bundle Natal, letting the 360 ride on the increased value at $299 and the hype of Natal.

Sony likely won't bundle the Wand, given that it's actually quite a bit that you'd have to pack in with the system (PS Eye + wand, and you still have the DS3 in there too), so it'll be 360 + Natal @ $299 vs PS3 @ $299 over the holidays.

Pacther is such a joke. Talk to me when some of the lunacy that comes out of his mouth is true.

Pixel Art can be fun.

The 360 has an internal redesign, at the very least, which will allow cost to be reduced for the system at retail. So, given that we didn't see these chipsets out late last year, I suspect that it is coming out this spring instead...price cut time!
