Forums - Nintendo Discussion - What innovations in Pokémon are you looking forward to in V Generation?

Pokémon had its V Generation announced some days ago. To be honest, I didn't want any new Pokémon at all, I just wanted to see innovations in the series, because it's almost the same since the beginning (c'mon, do you really think Pokéthlon is a revolutionary feature?). I don't know how it hasn't descended yet, but I predict that if nothing happens this time, the series will go down from now on. I wanted to know from you what should be featured in the V Generation games.

First, let's see the major innovations in the last generations:

II Generation innovations: genders, breeding, day & night gameplay, attaching items
III Generation innovations: abilities, Effort Values & Training
IV Generation innovations: Wi-Fi support, "primitive" full 3D graphics in handheld Pokémon (Torn World in Platinum and update in HeartGold & SoulSilver), distinction between physical and special moves

Well, if you think any other MAJOR innovation (so Pokéthlon, Battle Frontier and alikes DON'T count) should be listed here, be welcome to suggest. So, is there any way to improve the series, or it's way too stopped in time for you?

They'll start fusing the Pokemon together and call them "Pokemon X".

To be honest, 100 new Pokemon won't be enough to make some people buy the new games. It's on the same hardware as D/P so they will definitely have to innovate the gameplay in some new way.............I'm not exactly sure how they will do that though

Customising your own trainer, that would be amazing.

"Life is but a gentle death. Fate is but a sickness that results in extinction and in the midst of all the uncertainty, lies resolve."

i would love if they did something major, like you actually see the pokemon in the field, and you just run up to it and fight it real-time.

i don't if they'd be willing to change it that much, though.

come try out the computer game i've been working on for my high school senior project, titled sling ball. http://vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=76669&page=1

you can view a few screenshots from the game in my photo album here; http://www.vgchartz.com/photos/album.php?album=2312

yes, this is vonboy's alt account. i can't log into my original account, and i'm not sure if i will ever be able to.

Anything to make the series fresh, innovative and new. Something really original. As long as they don't come up with something like that, I'm not getting another Pokémon game, ever. I've gotten tired and bored with the games since Ruby/Sapphire.

New cool pokemons, not just trash pokemons which is pretty much what we get lately, a newer more interesting world with a different cast of characters, not just another rival, another professor and another 8 gym leaders

Nintendo is the best videogames company ever!

I want it to work similar to glory of heracles in therms of graphics and camera action.

They should at least have the trainer do something more in battle than just give commands and use items; maybe fight along side the Pokemon? I'm thinking like Final Fantasy XI with the Beastmaster job right there; give commands with your Pokemon and fight along side them. Imagine a 'dragoon-like' trainer with a Charizard, fighting with a polearm to attack while the Charizard can help the trainer fighting by heating your lance to pierce through the opponent's hard defenses. It would be neat or a far stretch of imagination; that's what I'm doing in the Pokemon fanfic I'm writing. It's a mix of Final Fantasy and Pokemon...

I also wish that Pokemon would have ability and stat traits that relate to a Pokemon, kind of like that way the monsters  in Tales of Symphonia 2: Dawn of the New World had. Like after awhile, a Pokemon could build up an immunity to a status ailment or type weakness. I'd also like for a Pokemon to have more than 4 attacks to use, but that's originally a part of the strategy that Pokemon was about...

OH, and Pokemon could have some sort of system wtih drop items. The items that some Pokemon may drop (like if you fight a Bellsprout, it may drop of vine, and the Trainer could synthesize it into an Escape Rope) could be synthesized into various items and trainers can also see if they can synthesize TMs and whatnot from various materials.
