It isn't a first and it isn't as bad as it was on FFXII. Both Zodiark and Yiazmat had instant death attacks with 50% chance to connect XD 

But I agree, it does seem unfair at first because your MC death means instant game over

cactuar hunting is good fun xD as are chocobos and killing behemoths which im finding quite easy now but cant do mission 15, the one with the goblin chieftan and 6 goblins, should be able to though just keep dieing at stupid times

Use a Fortisol or try to get the Auto-Haste ability on all your party. Then keep them down by using Ruinga and Blitz with your Commander. That way, your two RAV can wail on them quite easily

thats EXACTLY what i thought before i have thrown my Controller against the wall... but, Dying Sentinel's > Dying Leader.

You know what moved I liked the most? Destrudo. It took him 40 minutes to charge it and I basically wailed on him while he did it. Too bad it reset the stagger guage.

Meh. It wasn't even powerful.

I hated Destrudo, that was the main reason I didn't get 5/5 with him >_> 

I got a 0/5. The battle took 17 minutes for me. How the fuck do you get UNDER 8 minutes?

As soon as I got him staggered, he always used Destrudo, and whoopde-doo I have to fill 150% ALL OVER AGAIN.

I didn't see any point in charging the chain guage anymore since he always used Destrudo, so I simply used COM/COM/RAV.

 

I didn't grind at all in the room before except to make my way to all treasure orbs, I had enough HP to survive it so just made sure it was full when he started charging then went about attacking as usual.  He killed me the first time because I tried to sentinal it and didn't realise it was an area attack, my leader was not full HP.  Easy beat second time, 5 stars.

How the hell do you get a five star on this guy?

It's unpossible to delete his 462,000 HP in 8 minutes considering stagger is virtually impossible to maintain.

And I believe the quickest it can go up is with two Ravagers (since you have a forced party here), but even then he just resets the stagger guage.

How is it possible to get eight minutes?

I got him below 8 minutes, but too close to the time limit, so it was a 4/5. My strategy was to use relentless assault even when I was low on health, using Renew to cure my party. I managed to get 3 staggers due to that

But he uses Destrudo a lot. Like, he used it EVERY time I staggered him. I can't get any stagger hits on him.

Unless somehow your chain guage filled up quicker than mine, but really that's not possible.

Were you able to attack him much while he staggered?

You must be underleveled. At full health, Destrudo barely takes me to 50% health.

Try some Titanium or Gold Bangles for Lightning, it increases her health 500 with two gold.

When he's charging up Destrudo, attack him with two COM. You'll hear an UGH out of him after a while and Destrudo will do half the usual damage.

I usually got up to 600% stagger with him in the end

Dtewi is talking about the first fight. Second is a lot harder and yes, that one I couldn't get under 8. More like 11 minutes >_<
