Square Enix responds to doctored Final Fantasy XIII screens

Square Enix recently released some screens for the Xbox 360 version of Final Fantasy XIII. As it turns out, however, the images were actually from the Playstation 3 version of the game with the button layout altered for the Xbox 360. 

Sonia Im, the Senior PR Manager of Square Enix North America, posted the following statement regarding the mix-up on her Twitter:

We are looking into how the #FFXIII altered screens ended up in our presskit &will update asap. This was obviously not intentional...

..Aside from easily being proven as altered, and this method not being one we use, we don't feel there is a need to enhance the X360 #FFXIII

Need to clarify a few things re: #FFXIII screenshots. These were not meant to be released as a comparison of FFXIII on the two consoles...

The X360 batch in our press kit was the wrong one. We will have a statement shortly.

Square Enix: Official statement on Final Fantasy XIII debacle shortly

Square Enix is going under a lot of heat currently thanks to a very poor decision when a batch of Final Fantasy XIII screens were released to the public yesterday showcasing identical screens and graphics in both the Xbox 360 and PS3 version of the game. Onlookers easily noticed that the placement of the shoulder buttons were simply altered and that these weren't screens that represented both versions, respectively. Since this has caused a rather large controversy, Square Enix is now attempting to clear their name and are preparing a statement to release to the masses very shortly.

Sonia Im, Senior PR Manager of Square Enix North America, released the following statement just under an hour ago:
"Need to clarify a few things regarding FFXIII screenshots. These were not meant to be released as a comparison of FFXIII on the two consoles...

The X360 batch in our press kit was the wrong one. We will have a statement shortly."

Seen as the screen shots used are from the PS3 version, what are S.E trying to hide?? It seems too much trouble to go to for screen shots, it would have been far easier to do screen shots from the x360...
