Forums - Sony - No MAG love?

Not that I don't agree with your point, but if you're going to use a video to defend the merits of MAG, I would suggest not using a video that shows how utterly boring ARMA 2 can be even with 1500 players.

lol was just making a point about the BS behind you dont see all the players on screen at once because even in a game with 1500 players ( significantly larger then 256 ) still can't see all the players on screen, but ok I'll throw a bone

ground war 9v9, find al on that field, AND it's the smallest map

12v12 count em all, and you get a cookie

32v32 again if you can count them all you get a cookie

soooooooo all these games a total BS and gimmicks right??? -_-

Well that MW2 thing looked pretty hectic. I don't think the point is whether you can count the precise amount of players on the map at one time on your screen. It's a matter of how many are in the same skirmish as you. In the Rust map, you see the guy dying every 5 seconds, so you feel the added players on the smaller map. The gimmicky part of MAG I suppose is the advertising. MAG doesn't feel any more hectic(I'm assuming, haven't played it) than Battlefield BC 2, which doesn't feel any more hectic than a normal mode on MW2, because the size of the maps are all pretty equally proportionate to the amount of maximum players.

Kylie basically says it right above me. It doesn't feel different. The 256 players exist, but they exist too far away to matter to your on screen action. I couldn't imagine there being anything as confined and as hectic as that MW2 video, because that video obviously has 2x too many players in it, making the conflict feel larger than even MAG, at least on screen.

Tag: Became a freaking mod and a complete douche, coincidentally, at the same time.

@gamings_best - no, it's more like the "wow! 256 players! This is gonna be sick! Controls: shit, gameplay: shit, graphics: shit, campaign: nonexistent, value: non! Fuck this, I'm going back to Killzome which is superior to this in every fucking way!" sucks. I'm leet like a motherfucker dude I don't get killed in Video games. Especially in a game like MAG where you can snipe for like a day b4 being spotted. The game is just wack it's as simple as that.

hahahahahahahahaha leet, ok so you think killzone 2 got better or worse after the patch?

patches don't apply to me.

I assume that the source of that quote understands that in real life, the idea is to set up positons where you can snipe and take out individuals before you get spotted, right?  Things like that is call "strategy".

I don't get what you're trying to say? What I was saying was that MAG makes sniping wayyyy too easy because the map is so big that ppl will hardly EVER spot you. I have a problem with this because it's cheap. When I'm in Killzone I actually have to watch my ass when I'm sniping. Sit in a spot for too long and ppl will eventually find you. That's cool and normal to me. But MAG gives an unfair advantage to ppl who snipe such as myself. The first time I used a sniper in MAG I stayed alive for longer than I've ever stayed alive in an online game.

I wouldn't say it's an unfair advantage for the snipers because unless they're really good not only hitting targets, but also calling out enemies to their allies, they're just one less person that could be out there helping us to take back our objective.

gamings_best you are just proving the point ^^, 256 players was a waste of time because in the end you see about as many players as you do in other FPS games.

Perhaps, but that's also why I like the Battlefield series and spent years playing Battlefield 2. I've always understood where you're coming from with the player numbers. Still it is what it is and I enjoy it even if it currently can't support Killzone 2 or Uncharted 2 level graphics (but I would agree that the lack of polish in other areas is dissapointing). There's tons of stuff happening around you on a large map and not just in your immediate vicinity which is what I find exciting about MAG or a Battlefield game.

It's certainly not a great game, but I've had fun playing it none the less even if my only intention of playing the game is through renting. Since my expectations of the game were never that high to begin with, the fact that I've enjoyed the game is good enough for me.

MAG is a real hit or miss game, some love to play it, others love to hate it.

I loved the idea that it actually is an ongoing war with zipper continously giving us a better and better experience as time goes by (like LBP or MNR where people make more maps). Zipper is taking the game very seriously, they even play the game themselves.

There could as well be a 4th side entering the fight at some point of the shadow war. This is pure speculation though.

When Battlefield: Bad Company 2 releases...I doubt Dice will do anything to it, maybe release a map pack or two and that's it.
Then they start making a new Battlefield game and forget it just like they did with BF:BC.
