I've had a Slim since Christmas and it runs fine and I don't get any errors, but every now and then my screen goes blank.  I pause the game and unplug the HDMI cable from my PS3 and plug it back in and the screen comes back on.  If I unplug the cable from the TV nothing happens.  I was wondering if this was a known issue before I order a new cable because I think that's what it could be.  Any help would be appreciated.

If you think it's the cable, try it with another HDMI device if you have one. Only way to test if its the cable or not.

The problem is I don't have an extra one laying around and it can go 30 minutes or 30 hours without the screen going blank so switching cable isn't feasable.  I really just wanna know if anybody has had this problem cause I hope my console isn't messed up.

I've had mine since September and I haven't had any problems like this. I even leave it on for hours at a time (Downloading stuff).

I've had mine since September as well and the only problems I've had is the occasional freezing, but only before I patched the game it froze on. I'm also using one of the cheaper HDMI cables, I think it's a dynex, but I'm not sure.

Try to plug the cable inversely, to see if the problem is in one of the hdmi terminals.

Didn't think of that, thanks.  Seems kind of obvious now.  Will try tomorrow.

My slim is working fine, havent heard many complaints about the slim model in general though.

well my slim is working perfect, and ive never heard of anyone getting this with the slim.
