August US is basically a given now.

Obviously Japan will get it first, it's being made by a Japanese developer, whereas the Prime ones were being made by Retro, a Western developer. Hence why we got those games first, before Japan. Now it's simply the other way around, I see no reason why we'd get Other M before Japan.

Wiimakes don't count, we didn't get them before Japan because we never got them at all. We got Trilogy, your point fails.

We got Prime 1, 2 and 3 before Japan. Maybe we'll get an Other M remake before Japan next gen, though.

Why would they even bother releasing it first in Japan... Sales of metroid are practically non existant there.

Unless Other M is going to change that, but I really doubt it(it will probably sell a little more then prime games though).

It's only the Prime games that were very Western oriented, not the series overall.

BTW any hopes Nintendo will release Metroid Dread (or whatever the name is) alongside with Metroid: Other M like they did with MP1 and MP2? It might be probable at least if Sakamoto wasn't involved with Other M project. So I guess the answer is no. RIP 2D Metroids...

Hello, it's being made by Team Ninja? They're Japanese? Metroid by definition is a franchise that's entirely rooted in Japan, apart from the Primes. There's absolutely no way a Japanese dev like that wouldn't release such a big-name title in their home country. Besides, going by your logic they wouldn't ever release a Metroid game out there, they wouldn't have given Japan the Prime Wiimakes. And Other M may well sell quite a bit better than the Primes. It's a 2D shooter after all, not a FPS (I know the Primes aren't FPS games, but that's what they resemble, anyway, they're 1st person and you shoot a lot, and we all know Japan loathes FPS games).

Metroid games aren't very big sellers anyway, worldwide, compared to other big Nintendo IP's. For a franchise with such limited sales, all income is welcome, and even though it doesn't sell as much in Japan as it does in the West, it's still better to get these sales than to miss them.

If it would come out in Japan before the West, why haven't Nintendo even given us a date yet? They've said 'summer 2010' for Japan, if it would come out here before that, they would prbably have let us know by now. I mean, it's almost February, if the game were to come out before summer, they would've let something out by know, even with their recent late announcements.

Also, I honestly don't believe for a second Nintendo will release the game before E3.
