only 30 hours?? are you kidding me. that sucks. thats insanely short for an rpg. a game informer review for it said 18-30 hours but my friend said thats just for the main quest and no side quests. but if 30 hours is the whole game that is incredibly disappointing. heck some NES rpgs took longer than that.

From what i have heard if you stick to the main story it can be finished in 15-20 hours. 25-30 hours with the side quests. From what BrainboxLtd said the side quests seem pretty poorly done though.

The IGN podcast said they were great and diverse. And this is where im doubting what hes saying, ive only heard praise, but suddenly he comes in and its not great?

The 60 hours comes from the fact, theres two sides, you have different paths. So you replay, and you can change everything. Kinda like Kotor.

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Game trailers-Halo 3 only dissapointed the people who wanted to be dissapointed.

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.

He showed the box... people just have different opinions about games.  Reviewers loved CoD4 but I really didn't care for it.  Not that it was bad, but there are so many better shooters out right now that it felt empty.

Indeed, it just upsets me with all the galaxy fans saying its not GOTY material cause of one persons opinion, when every single review is praising it?

Also its well known that theres tons of pictures up of people playing it.

Obviously people shouldn't insult a game they haven't had the chance to play. Still, every single review is a bit broad of a term right now because there is only 1 review...

i want this game badly

2, and IGN comparing it to galaxy as GOTY.  Theres plenty of previews stating how amazing it looks, and suddenly it fails? This is bioware naz. At this point i can only think its just not his game.

He just didnt like it, i didnt like Orange box, even though it got so much praise, i really didnt like it.

I just dont want people to rule it out because of one user review, that we cant say is a complete credable source

I love that evil little woodchuck...

You can find me on facebook as Markus Van Rijn, if you friend me just mention you're from VGchartz and who you are here.

I agree. You can't rule anything out on the experiences of others. I have rarely agreed with an average review score exactly, and there are many games that I dislike (FFVII) that are loved by millions.

Mario galaxy GOTY confirmed ?

Official Xbox Magazine sings the praises of Mass Effect before rewarding it with a perfect 10. Editor Paul Curthoys writes:

"The experience as a whole - the sense of awe that lasts all game long, and the emotions in your gut as you sit back at the end and just gape - pays off all on its own. Personally, it's the best game I've ever played, but even if you're not a hardcore sci-fi nerd like me, Mass Effect is a transcendent experience, the new standard-setter for what a game can be. You have to play it, and that's why we're kinda jealous of you. Even if you memorized all the previews and trailers, you're still not ready for how awesome this game is."

They said its the best game theyve ever played.........

I don't want to be harsh but...Official XBOX magazine gives it a 10.

Not really a good source =/.

He also stated its the best game hes ever played, if its as bad as he says it is, the magazine would get hit hard for that statement.

Saying its the best hes ever played is a very strong statement, doesnt just pop up cause its the xbox magazine

 I don't know the magazine so I can't argue about it =/.
But when I play a game I say a lot of times 'WOOWHAA it is the best game ever'.

And I don't think the magazine really would get hit hard for that statement because it is his opinion but then again I don't know that magazine and I don't read it.

Edit: sorry my internet connection crashed (I had to go out to reset it).

Generally I'm not trusting the games media reviews atm in any case. If they all love a game and it's on 360, I generally get the feeling that Robbie Bach bought each editor and reviewer another free television. Even if the game's great.

It's just my opinion, but I get a lot of sense of group mentality, hardcore obsessiveness for a range of gameplay styles that appeal exclusively to the 'aristocrat' gamer sector, and general gushing over the same product types from the same companies, starting with the first screenshot and ending with the sequel, where they finally expound on the problems with the original. I'm just not seeing anything in the way of, you know, criticism that might be useful to me.

I just don't trust them anymore.

I'm starting to think the un-alligned forum goers may be more reliable, because they aren't paid for their opinion.

I pose it to all of you: Have the big reviewers been letting you down recently? Because they have me!
