@Crazymann
Famitsu asked which title is best game ever.
Tetris is a good game but it is natural that no one thinks it is the best game ever.
And obviously MGS4 is far better than MGS1.

Eh, I could pull up a few people who would argue for Tetris being the best game ever.
I think the criticism of an overabundance of focus on too-recent titles is a valid one.

I could make an arguement for it. It's pretty much THE Puzzle game that everbody tried to copy until like... Bejeweled... and even then it's still often copied.
Additionally unlike other puzzle games... you can't really picture anything added to make it better fundamentally gameplay wise. While i'd say bejewled is a lot more fun in it's puzzle quest form as other versions are just as fun.
It's perfection in a "tetris like" game... and it's very rare a game can hit perfection.
It can do so because it's so simple, yet simplicity is not in of itself inherently bad, though I feel that is what people who are futurists in gaming tend to believe. There are few other games you can play where you wouldn't change of thing... and even fewer still that are amazing but don't make you want more because what you've been given is the entirity of the expierence.
Once you have tetris... you really don't even want another tetris.
I'm not sure I believe said argument but I think it's a convincing one.
OT7 said: FF1 was the hardest to date and that was something I liked so much about that gem (I'll remember come from school and play it for at least 3-5 hours just to level up,my stock of 99 potions get empty after EVERY dungeon, good times ) I wonder how hard is FFXIII ? Everyone complaining this list just give it a break,is just another list, also is one that got many great games, you don't have to accept it if you don't like it anyway. |
I thought FF2 was hardest.
All that self injuring... while making sure the monsters didn't hurt you was more repetitive that level grinding yet if you didn't do it... my god.
YESS! EAT THAT MASS EFFECT 2!!! FFXIII best game EVAR!!! LOL just kidding, had to say that cause I'm going to lose my bet to S.T.A.G.E :(
Anyway I don't understand why ppl in this thread are being so over-dramatic. Are people that read Famitsu not allowed to have an opinion? So most of them think FFXIII is the best game of all time. So what? Maybe they, like me, believe that video games are actually getting progressively better.
The VGC community chose Ocarina of Time as their favorite game of all time. But a game doesn't have to be two or three generations old to be able to qualify for the greatest game ever. Just look at how many ppl in this community believe MGS4 is the best game ever created.
It seems like the readers of Famitsu have spoken, NOW CHANGE THAT 39/40 to a PERFECT score and lets move on.

Yes, obviously MGS4 IS better*. You are totally correct, and I am totally wrong, because (you know) opinions = facts to some people.
* Better in terms of graphics and ambient sound, obfuscated and self-indulgent story and sheer size.

When they brought FF4 to the west they made it way easier than the Japanese version, that's why everyone on here is saying that it is so easy. The Japanese version is more like the DS game, i think the DS one might actually be a little harder than that even though. |
I think the GBA remake was supposed to restore it to its original Japanese difficulty, and the DS remake made it even a little harder than that (but tried to make up for it with all the crazy new skills).

That's the entire thing, I'm not working hard to make sure FF is looking more popular than pokemon. I strongly suggest you read my first comment on this thread, regarding the validity and timing of this poll. |
I don't answer questions that were put in the form of a challenge with only one acceptable answer. Especially when it is so clearly based on a persons personal tastes.
However, again, considering Japan has already done multiple 'best ever' polls and you can clearly see the results, I don't know how you can say games like Dragon Quest, Pokemon and Final Fantasy wouldn't be on them. Just because you think they shouldn't be doesn't mean the majority of Japan doesn't, as the link given above shows. Seven of the top Ten games are nothing but Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest titles.

I thought the crazy new skils were in the original japanese version and the only new addition player wise was that weird minigame character. Can't say though, haven't played the japanese FF4.

Rubang has the right of it. FF4j was very hard. FF2us was much easier.
FF4 GBA restored the game to its original difficulty.
FF4 DS ramped it up even further, adding Abilities partially to compensate (they do not compensate enough in most cases, the game is still harder)
