Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Wiiware Demos Ending

Ninty did this as a trial run. Now they have concrete information about how the demos worked (the primary purpose was to increase the WiiShop usage rates and get more people connected) - they can work out what their strategy long-term is.

I'm actually *very* happy they are ending. These demos have been badly skewing WiiWare sales towards titles with demos - and hurting all the other titles (such as Flowerworks) in the meantime.

Either all games can have demos... or none can.

Then the ideal should be 'all games should have demos,' surely?

As a consumer, the demos were a valuable way to try before you buy. They made me decide to buy World of Goo and Bit Trip and decide not to buy My Life as a Darklord and Pokemon Rumble.

I hope they continue the service in one form or another.

wha- ?! cancel it?! if anything, Nintendo should add more!

well, all i wish is that Nintendo can at least provide some videos on some of these wiiware games
i mean i imagine there are some videos on Wii channel (i don't know since i don't visit that channel often) but even that still isn't enough

more demos would be great;
if not, at least some videos of these games would be cool

there are some websites that provides videos of these games but i should not need to do that...

hell, i read from some website sometime ago that Wii Ware needs a facelift and maybe advertisements... and i totally agree

I saw the message but I thought those Demos were the ones ending, and new one were to be added =/

I'll be very happy if all games can have demos - and even more happy if "quality" games (only) can have demos.

It does mean even more work for every developer though... a time limited or 'unlock' model would be even sweeter. It should be easy enough to implement on WiiWare...

there seriously needs to be more demos
japan already has new ones

Does Japan actually have new ones? All I remember hearing, is a month ago one of the demos got taken down and replaced by a demo for another game. Nothing else.

Anyway, hopefully they will show their hand in the coming weeks.

Seems they got two more demos.

Well previews have been automatically deleted. My Metroid Prime 3 preview is still there in the channels, but cant view it at all.

That's because those required an internet connection, right? It was basically a glorified YouTube channel.

Hopefully they'll go for a second wave of demos. It might be a good way to promote worthier efforts, just the tricky question of who gets it and who doesn't has to emerge.
