My point is simply that it is absolutely impossible to know whose numbers are closer to actual reality.  And just because NPD shows certain figures does not automatically make VGC incorrect.   The very nature of statistical sampling dictates this.

So while you were hinting that you were losing faith in VGC numbers because of their discrepancy with NPD, I'm simply pointing out that that same faith could be just as lost upon NPD for their discrepancy with VGC numbers.

I'm not being touchy about it, just showing you not to accept either completely and use one to cast doubt on the other when neither can ever be proven factual.

According to the dude at Sega who was the manager in charge of developer relations for segas publishing wing, NPD undertracks by 30%.

And people said to me I was wrong when I said PS3 sales increase had nothing to do with Uncharted 2. It was entirely to do with the slim and pricecut. People re buying the PS3 again so as to have the slimmer model. To be honest, thats all M$ would need to do to gain loads of ground in sales over Sony. A slim console with a pricecut from M$ would send sales through the roof with same buyers buying again.

U2 is the best game on PS3 and it sells very poorly. That is worrying for Sony in my point of view.

This is probably system error if you look at this it's often high quality low sales number gamers that are very hypped in the internet that get overtracked a lot by VGC.

This would imply that those games receive the status of must have's and the number of for example VC sales is a some multiplier*number of consoles sold (you can see this by investigating massive surge of VC sales in christmas season)

I'd imagine there might be a slight systematic error that shifts towards "speciality" stores.
