So much misunderstood here.

Yes a lot. What is a game is highly personal. The definition of game is simply "An activity providing entertainment or amusement". So working can be a game for certain person. Also doing laundry could be a game. He said cons "no game?" instead of just saying that it ressemble more to an interactive movie than usual video-game. But then again, it makes absolutely no sense to gave it a 9.2 out of 10 if the cons is the whole gameplay. Gameplay in cons should mean 8 or lower at least. Or maybe he thought that even if he liked it, it could  be a negative point for the average gamer.

Wow, what a terribly written review - and I don't mean the funny Google translation posted on N4G which translates the word "Titel" to "book" instead of the correct and obviously a bit more similar word "title".

I mean the review in its original language. The reviewer gives no real reason WHY he enyjoyed the game so much. Basically he just says several times that he loved characters, graphics, sound, atmosphere, gameplay and again the graphics. Everything's brilliant and - quote -breathtaking. He's so enthusiastic about the game that he forgot to tell his audience why.

Also, he lists Kein "Spiel"? (No "game"?) as a con though it's obviously not HIS con, but it seems he unnecessarily and proactively tries to express with this clumsy wording that Heavy Rain might not be considered as game by many others. So it seems he's not only incapable of properly expressing his opinion but he's also insecure...

Anyway, I can't wait to play the game. I have one concern which none of the (few) videos or previews I've seen could dispell and which differs from anyone else's concerns. I'm probably alone with this and I'll find out in exactly one month.

+1

I like playing a "movie" game. It's just funny people defending the written review.

I would assume that the reviewers are being considerate of the average gamer.  For example, Dreamfall got merely okay review average.  If the reviewers weren't being considerate of average gamer tastes, it would have gotten atleast in the mid 80s.

Strange. Games that aren't games get higher scores than games that are games.

Not true.  Heavy Rain seems to be doing such a good job of being an interactive movie that people can't help loving it.

Wait, someone answer my question. They say there's "no game" in the cons but list "spiffy gameplay" in the positives. isn't a game anything that consists of gameplay?

I mean, if it's just QTE's as he says, why would he also list spiffy gameplay? sounds like there's more to it than he's letting on.

He didn't say "No Game", he said: No "Game", implying that it isn't a game in the traditional sense and understanbdably so it will be a deterent for many gamers, this is why it is listed as a con. He isn't saying it has no gameplay and it isn't only QTE's. Yes it ihas many, but that still doesn't invalidate it as a game.

Zack and Wiki is just point and click, but it is a game is it not? Is Dragon's Lair not a game? It is only button presses that need to be done at the right time or else you fail. Is Myst not a game? I think you get my point.

Oh jeez, I give up.

You've mistaken my meaning. I love point and click adventures and consider them to be one of the heights of games. I just didn't get his choice of review words. it is pretty contradictory to say the gameplay is great and the lack of gameplay is a problem. I'm not questioning the game; I'm questioning the review.

Oh jeez, I give up (see, that's not a very nice thing to say)

I don't mind if someone says they give up.

I also explained why he wrote the in the cons area and what the meaning for it is. As I said he writes it as No "Game" because for many people they may in fact see it this way and will see it as a big time con, just like it was for Dragon's Lair.

Yes maybe he should have worded it better to avoid the confusion we have here.

I also apologize if I misunderstood what your meaning was.

That's cool. I still think it's silly for him to use the no "game" comment considering point and click was one of the most hardcore genres ever made though. But as for the game itself. Looks pretty cool, even if I'm not sold on the QTE's

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

This game isn't met for Call of Duty fans that want action! This is designed for people who enjoy story telling and roll playing games.

I believe this will be a 'cult following' game that gets great reviews from critics, but not backed up by sales.

So is this a point and click adventure or a movie with QTE's? I'm getting confused here.

Basically it's more a movie with QTE's than a point & click adventure (except that it's played with a pad).

The review is so amateurish i wonder if it's not simply a blog input, a fanboy's opinion if you will.

Just finished the game (after a run long into the night >_>)
