Forums - PC Discussion - Dragon Age - Technical Issues

I downloaded Dragone Age three days ago and had been having a blast with it for the first day and a half or so.

Once I had reached this tower outside Ostagar, just shortly into the game, it froze up on me. Now anytime I load the game it locks up on me as soon as my save file boots. It's strange too, because I lose the signal to my monitor and am unable to access my task manager once it happens. I have to reboot. The game doesn't lock anywhere else, but I'm stuck at this part in the game.

I've tried lowering the detail, textures, resolution, allowing on one CPU, played in window mode, etc.... nothing seems to work.

Specs:

CPU: E8400

OS: Windows 7 64bit

RAM: 4 GB 1066

GPU: 2 3870 in crossfire

Any help would be appreciated.

Maybe try disabling Crossfire? If I had to take a random guess, that would be it.

Did you download ? I presume you bought it, right? Contact EA support.

I tried that. I did buy me about 2 seconds gameplay, but ended in the same result. It doesn't happen with other races/places. Only this particular quest (seemingly).

@rccsetzer: Yeah, I bought it on Steam. I contacted them online. They seemed less than useless. I'll try over the phone tomorrow.

That sucks dude. hopefully it will get resolved for you.

Do you have problems with other games?

Never have. Mass Effect 2 runs wonderfully.

Googling "dragon age 3870" yielded this as the second result. It mentions Ostegar as the first area that is problematic, so this could be the problem you're having?

Thanks! I hadn't thought of googling the game alongside 3870 from some reason.

I'll have to try that tomorrow.

That didn't work either, though it did buy me a few seconds of gameplay.

It's surprising that the issue has apparently been around this long with no official fix or even acknowledgment.
