All AAA games per console per year this gen as rated by metacritic. Retail, DLC, arcade...all are welcome as long as they have a combined score of 90+.

My opinion.

Well, I'm not sure. I just have a problem with  Metacritic.

A games like Fable II and Demon Souls sold very well, got a lot of 90+ reviews and are loved by many.They got ripped.

-Metacritic assigns numerical ratings attached to reviews that don't have one. This is based on thier opinion.

-A game will sit at 90 for a long time and then they will add one more review taking it down to 89 and leaving it there. This happens a lot

-The sites they use are inconsistent. Obviously a PlayStation site is going to review the PS3 version and a 360 site a 360 version. Those sites tend to be biased towards their own copy of the game. The game might be the same on each system but one might give it a 95, the other a 97. It is a bit misleading.

What I'm saying is I consider some games below 90 on Metacritic to be AAA titles.

Some examples are:

Fable II - 89

Demon Souls - 89

Left 4 Dead 2 - 89

GTA: Ballad of Gay Tony - 89

Ratchet & Clank: ToD - 89

etc.

You're not doing anything wrong, I'm just personally not a fan of MC. I feel it can be just a bit misleading and unfortnately gives some games a bad rep. Cool thread though. It is intersting to see the list.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. There's as many ways to rate a game as being 'AAA' as there are to cook eggs. And using review scores to judge a games status is pretty much the worst way, like cooking an egg directly on the stove and calling it an omelet.

'AAA' status is just a buzz word developed by people online and game reviewers to classify games beyond the range of 'good' or 'great'. And as you can see from the list of Wii games, there's a clear bias against Wii games from reviewers, making using metacritic or any other review site pretty pointless to find what the 'AAA' games for the Wii are. But beyond just the Wii, there's going to be plenty of other top quality games from the other consoles left out simply because of random reviewers who downscored it for petty reasons if you go by reviewers.

AAA traditionally means a first tier effort, a game a company is putting a big investment into that will be well polished and marketed. It's originally an industry phrase not a gamer phrase.

We can't measure that though, and metacritic is the best alternative.
