Lets see:
Don't get me wrong, there are other movies from last decade that are really close, IMO to TDK like ROTK, Gran Torino, Wall-E, Kill Bill Vo. 1, 300, and Inglorious Basterds are really great choices for the 2000's as well, with ROTK being a hair away from TDK.
However, as an American, you grow up with Batman. Like Superman and Spiderman, he is one of our most iconic figures. You take Batman, who was at times a very campy superhero (except for the one futuristic TV show...can't remember the name of that one), and turn him into this almost-evil superhero is nothing less than 'holy crap!'.
Oh, plus I saw it in IMAX. TDK was one of the first movies, along with Avatar, to really push the IMAX format. Movies are just better in IMAX...Something I don't remember ROTK or the rest of the LOTR series having.
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
Pierrepoint or Children of Men, loved them both.
Though, a decade is a very long time, I've forgotten hundreds of films that I've watched throughout: these two have the benefit of being watched in recent years.
So Children of Men was good, Samuel?
I looked at IMDB and noticed it, along with The Departed as the only two movies I didn't know about that were in the top 250 from this decade.
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
