Crap. After looking at Wikipedia there are more Metroid Games out there than I expected. I think I'm getting in over my head!

Listen, don't worry about it. Take it one game at a time.

My first Metroid game was Metroid Prime in 2004. I ain't ashamed. I only played Super Metroid for the first time like.... a year ago.

Forget about Hunters for the DS, bytheway, the game was pretty awful compared to the other Metroids.

I think I'll get Metroid since I have a 500pt balance on my account anyway. Wikipedia says the primes fall (chronologically) right after the original Metroid. So then I can play those next. Except for Hunters since I don't have a DS.

Thanks for the help!

Well good, that saves you the money to buy a DS just to play Metroid Prime Hunters then. (Though there are so many incredible DS games it's actually criminal you don't have one yet. )

Metroid II is awesome, if you have the chance, pick it up! It's a bit dated now and lacks the finesse of later Metroids, but compared to other 8-bit games, it's just fabulous.

And @ abcdario: Other M is 2D, y'know. Or well, the models are 3D, but it's sidescrolling, so, basically it's the same as 2D.

I do want a DS, I just don't want to pay for it. I also am upset that they removed GBA from the DSi so it would be too hard to pick between them. If I wanted a DSi, I'll just wait for the DS2 or whatever comes next.

Since you have the points anyway, play Metroid first. You'll get to see experience the progression of the series (in terms of graphics). Just my opinion since some people find it difficult to go back to the NES graphics after playing the more modern ones. I don't care because they're all excellent games so it's up to you.

Congrats on your purchase btw! I'm currently playing Echoes (for the first time) and loving it!

Haha, well, that's a toughie then, I doubt Nintendo will give you one for free. As for the GBA slot, DS2 or whatever comes next definitely won't have that, so... if you really want that, might as well get a DS Lite, maybe? Or a GameBoy Player. Dunno if you have a GameCube, but if you do, you can play GB, GB Color, and GB Advance games on your TV with that... including Metroid II, Metroid Fusion and Zero Mission.

Yea...but when DS2 comes out I can probably pick up a DSlite for cheap :)
