Forums - Sony Discussion - The myth of the Sony " kill switch"

no, products are tested before going on market. if a product had a 'switch' of sorts to make it break at a certain time the PS's would'nt be allowed on market

These 'testers' would not work for sony, all products are tested...even food

well of course its a no.

its just an amusing tale of fanboy mentalism!

I wonder which other japanese companies products the anti sony mob prefer?

lol well this is the first i have really heard of it, but i think its just a small amount of people but of course they stand out over the majority

I've always thought the same thing about my fridge, my computer, my car and so on...

I haven't owned a Sony branded product for years (aside from PS systems) because of my experience with the latent hardware issues down the road.

Now I'm sure that not all of the things they make break a year or two down the road, but I just can't take the risk with them given my history with their products.

I can't sleight the PS3 through, I have a launch 20gig that sees an average of 5-6 hours of use per day and I've never had a hitch with it.

Amusing. I never cease to be amazed at the way certain urban myths and conspiracies spread and take hold.

It's a good job for Sony they think PS3's are exempt.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Funny story. IDK why anyone would buy vaio laptops anyway. They are usually overpriced for the same specs. Well, people do buy macbooks and that's the epitome of overpricing. Guess that Apple kool aid tastes pretty damn good. Who am I to talk, I have an iPod

Japan has 20 mil people in Tokyo alone. I don't think even a couple million people could really take down a Giant like Sony just by saying they have "kill switches" I mean look at how much Red Ring has actualy been proven and people are still buying 360's

There is no kill switch. And EVERYONE knows that todays electronics, toys....... are built with substandard engineering. Things are built to break. When however is more random.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

This must only be in newer Products by Sony because I have 2 Sony TV's which are about 10 and 15 yrs old and both function perfectly. Lol

Pretty sure electronics nowadays have killswitch engineered in, especially the ones that does not go outdated after 2 years.
