Forums - General Discussion - Conan O'Brien is the man.

Finally got to watch this one. Great final speech, Coco!

Best of luck to him, hope he's back on TV soon.

I don’t watch any of these shows, but the thing I find interesting about this whole affair is that it demonstrates how much trouble broadcast network television is in; and it makes me wonder whether there will be a NBC (in its current form) in 5 years.

I doubt NBC is going to weather the late-night storm with Leno hosting on NBC.

I believe that Fox will pick up Conan and put him at 11:30, and he'll steal most of the younger demographic, putting Leno into a death kneel in a year or two. With NBC's late night dying, they won't have an answer without a guy like Conan, because I really can't see anyone else doing the Tonight Show because there really isn't a large group of comedians with the clout of Conan.

Also, Conan was incredible at guitar while playing Freebird with Ferrel and ZZ Top! I had no idea he was that good at guitar. Maybe he can get a music gig 'till September.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Dude went out with a class act speech on his final episode.  Shot straight, got emotional.  Anyone else see it?

Seen Conan's finale farwell.  I been a fan since back in the date with the late night Conan show.  Its been wierd to see him go through the things he had to and now he's off.  I believe he will be with another network.

What sucks is Conan was put in a position to where he was basically forced out.  Instead of them just ending Jay's show all together they put Conan in a tough spot.

Letterman's synopsis:

O'Brien is pure class

But dammit

Letterman is still really funny

Around the Network

Letterman is funny and very crafty about taking the attention off of himself.  Remember when that situation came up about him sleeping with the co-workers he flipped the whole thing.  Now, hardly anyone is talking about it anymore.

Yeah saw the last episode with Conan, great guy. I hope Leno car garage catches on fire and all he has left is a toyota prius fuck the guy.

So he decided to leave?

It wasn't his say; they exercised the 30+ million dollar termination fee in his contract.

So basically he doesn't have to work for a few months and gets 30+ million dollars.

Actually, he could have moved the Tonight Show to 12:05 and stayed on.

Is that so?  I could have sworn I heard that the 30m would have been his as long as they moved him out of the timelsot he was in.

Yeah, Conan had no 10:35 language in his contract from what has been reported.  He has, weakly (legally speaking), argued that the history of the Tonight Show "implied" the 10:35 timeslot but that was a losing battle honestly.

@topic,

The whole situation is kinda sad imo, I really can't blame Leno or Conan when the decisions that brought them to where they are came from much higher on the corporate food chain.

To Each Man, Responsibility

Did anyone catch this? Jimmy Kimmel is hilarious.

NBC and Leno are assholes.

Jay Leno's audience is getting old, and I hope the ratings get as bad as they can.

Conan rules!

I'd be surprised if that audience comes back honestly.  The fact that the audience didn't move with him pretty much indicates they were there more out of routine rather then liking the show.  With 7 months of the routine being broken... will they come back?

Maybe if they went to Letterman or Kimmel or whoever, but that's not what happened.  Ratings indicate these people went to Cable dramas and the like.  Shows they're now invested in...

I don't see it going too well for Leno.

im coming back

A) Sample of 1... and not what TV experts expect.

B) Why weren't you watching his show at 10?
