So... what do you guys and gals think? Personally, I'm thinking Nintendo might just release a 2D Mario platformer on either of the 2 when they launch, but probably not both, that'd be overkill imo. Unless their releases were to be several years apart. If I had to wager, I'd say on their next console, 'cos that's where they usually face the most competition, and Mario's pretty much the biggest gun they have, apart from Pokémon (which I doubt will see a full-fledged RPG on a home console) and the Wii_ series.

Then again, you never know with Nintendo... Thoughts?

No they will get them but not at launch. I just can't think why nintendo would do this

Not at launch.

At launch you want games that proves the value of the hardware. Having NSMB at either the launch of Wii or DS would have worked against the sell of their novel imput devices. Which is why you had Wii Sports instead.

I know, next time around may be different though, I doubt their next machine will be as revolutionary as Wii was...Besides, so many Nintendo machines have launched with Mario titles, it's unreal.

Hopefully. I miss opening the box and playing a new mario right away!
It's been 14 years without that feeling! (portables not included - oh, wait, whatever, you can include them, since Mario Advance and Super Mario 64 DS were both rehashes)

Honestly, I don't know. I can see DS2 getting a NSMB follow up and Wii 2 getting a new 3D Mario instead, with a 2D one coming somewhere down the line.

On the other hand, I heard something about a new 3D Mario on DS but that's probably just someone's wishful thinking.

But what if they reversed it? 3D Mario for DS2 launch, 2D Mario for Wii 2 launch. Who'd see that coming?

A 2D Mario on launch? I don't think so... a 3D Mario yes, a 2d one, no.

Nintendo will play with the gamers nostalgia again... and that's a good thing. When the next console is released, that would be like... what? 2 years since the release of NSMBWii? I'd prefer to wait a bit longer.

Not at launch, but maybe a year or two after they come out. Just think if there was some kind of connectivity between the two titles
