The PS3 is 54 times as powerful as the PS2. My friend's $700 Radeon 4870X2 crossfire bought six months ago is 20 times as powerful as the X360 GPU. Two years from now, when next-gen consoles likely release, twelve PS3s taped together will only be half as powerful as the single top graph card. Is a reasonable estimate.

I think you mean the latter, I just want to be clear that we aren't living in Pachter's dream universe here.

that's why i wrote "competing Consoles", actually it would depend on the time of release, but i believe Nintendo will take its time before releasing another generation.

So, yes the next generation of consoles! Besides i don't believe whatever Nintendo comes up with would be less powerful then the HD-Twins

 

Thanks for clarifying.

I've cast my ballot for less powerful. I think MS and Sony are going to keep trying to put a PC in the living room while Nintendo keeps their hardware as cheap and simple as possible.
