I think the guy is European. His accent sounds like its a Germanic-origin (meaning a derivative of German, or German itself), and he got the game from a press event in London.

He is most definately NOT from New York, nor any other place in the US. There's no way an accent that thick could make it into the language of anyone who grew up in the US.
