Its hilarious how desperate people are trying to defend this game, just because it took me 5 hours to beat. It wasnt even my first playthrough.

Its not my fault it was a short game, it was a good game but nothing spectacular its story was garbage.

On normal mode on my first playthrough it took me 8 hours so no matter how you slice it, it is not longer than 10 hours.

You are entitled to your opinion.

But its kinda obvious that you can finish the game faster when you play it the second time.

Also, it might be entirely possible to beat the game in 8 hours.  But play times differ from person to person  depending on skill and whether or not you rush through it. I took 5 hours more than you cause I took it slow.

I never said the 5 hour run was on my first playthrough, even still, you cant skip any cutscenes on the game and there wasnt many tricky puzzles that took too long to figure out.

Even on my first playthrough it didnt take over 10 hours or even close. The developers lie they always do, supposedly there was gonna be free DLC for God of War 3 and of course that doesnt exist either.

Finished it this morning--took me about nine hours not counting deaths and stuff.  I loved it.  Wish I would have played it sooner.

well why would you boast that it took you 5 hrs and obviously make everyone assume it's your first playthrough. ppl can beat resi games in a few hrs on later playthroughs but the 1st playthrough takes 10 hrs. You wouldn't hear a capcom employee boasting that the game can be beat in a couple hours.

Also, as ppl mentioned devs always overexagerate game lengths. Did Santa Monica break your heart for lying to you? They always announce extremely conservative game times. LoZ:TP took me 50 hrs onthe first playthrough and I took my sweet ass time enjoying the landscape and yet nintendo's estimate was still longer than that by a bit (if i remember correctly)

And it took your first playthrough 8 hrs minus all your deaths btw.

And no one's trying to defend the 10 hr statement cuz several ppl have admitted to beating the game quicker than that other than yourself. Most ppl are just attacking you for reviving a yr old thread for nuttin.

yeah it took me about 8-9 hours to beat so 10 is pretty close

at the same time i wish this game had online

In my opinion games like these would be ruined if multiplayer was tacked on, see Bioshock 2 for example. If anything this is a single player centric game, and that's what mkaes it what it is.

well maybe if they make it resemble halo, cod or even uncharted 2 it would've sold about 4.5 million right now instead of 3.5 million

I really don't know how GoW3 multiplayer would work, the reason why those work is the fact that they're competitive FPS, I don't know if there are hack n slash games that have multiplayer so I can't say whether there is anything worth adding to the multiplayer element.

Cutscenes don't add to the time.

Stig Asmussen said they might release the cut levels as free DLC. They never promised anything.

The multiplayer wouldn't have been that great. God of War isn't a shooter. It doesn't need multiplayer which around 1000 people would've played 3 months after release. Look at Dead Space 2. Absolutely unnecessary multiplayer. How the hell do you make God of War resemble CoD or Halo ? They're completely different genres

Its at 3.6 million right now. Not 3.5 Looking to be the best selling game in the series, and its already the best selling hack'n slash of this gen.

The right way to expand a hack and slash game is with Co-Op. They should have put an extra extra hard arena Co-Op mode with Deimos maybe or any other character. Somebody remember Dino Crisis 2?

No, you just don't understand the meaning of their words.  In their testing, and timing of the game I would wager that the average completion time falls around 10 hours.  Something like 10.1 hours or so.

You need to realize that if you're visiting and posting on this site you automatically play more video games than the average person.  You automatically are probably better than half the people who play the game just because you care that much more about gaming.

It may have taken you 8 hours on your first play through.  It may have taken some 35 year old father of three, casual gamer around 12 hours on his first playthrough.   We would say that the game takes around 10 hours to beat.    Then you also need to factor people looking for every secret, every orb, every item they can find extending the play times.

I personally, explore every nook and cranny in the game searching for items.  I like taking my time on a game like God of War.  It is a single player, epic experience, something that isn't meant to be rushed or hurried in my eyes....

I personally don't understand why some people mega play through the game and try to sprint from objective to objective to beat it as fast as possible (On first playthrough) but different strokes for different folks.

And lastly, it depends on what you define completing the game.  I believe that every object in the game that is collectable and possible to obtain should be counted in terms of game completion.  Without knowing the exact context and specific details, it's a tad presumptive to accuse the developer of 'lying' to you.
