Rob6021 said: You can't trash your business partners that would not be a good idea for anyone - who knows they could be in the process of negotiating an exclusive deal for a 3rd gears game as we speak... I'm sure Pachter was saying he's thinking Epic must be upset assuming the deal was multi-game, he probably has no idea what the deal is, or whether later deals were brokered for the sequels, it could have been pretty substantial. Of course the guys going to say that when put on the spot. This doesn't prove Pachter's 'speculation' wrong. |
The prbolem with Pacther's comments are that they make no sense...sure, Epic might have been able to launch GeOW series successfully, but 360 has the strongest attach ratio, and if you HAD a choice on what console to choose for an exclusive in the genre, it would be the 360.
Well, amazingly people care so much about people's comments, not considering the reality of thing.
How would you feel if your gaming company is being controlled by a bigger company?
Epic is too much man to be satisfied with just Windows and 360.
C'mon, Epic, you know you wanna trippple dip it. Ballmer never has to know...

CGI-Quality said:Mark Rein: Pachter Comments Not True - We're Happy with MicrosoftA few hours ago we posted a story on what the almighty games analyst Michael Pachter had to say regarding the relationship/contract between Microsoft and Epic Games; Mark Rein, Vice President of Epic Games, gave us his take on the seemingly impossible comments made on the Bonus Round. We asked the folks at Epic, what we already knew to be untrue, if they felt strained or pressured in their relationship with Microsoft and the Xbox 360. Read up on Mr. Pachter's comments in our original story, by clicking here. Once you are all caught up find Mark Rein's prompt, and to the straight to the point response below. "We have a great relationship with Microsoft and we have no regrets." Seems to me as that Epic is standing behind the Xbox 360 and their relationship with Microsoft, which by all accounts is making them tons of money. Gamers everywhere are expecting Gears of War 3 to be announced soon enough and I have a feeling that will be coming to the Xbox 360 and PC exclusively. Stay tuned for anymore updates on this story only on PlanetXbox360.com. http://www.planetxbox360.com/article_9386/Mark_Rein_says_Epic_Has_a_Great_Relationship_with_Microsoft You were saying Pachter?! |
Really Im shocked at Epic statement / sarcasm.
Do you think that if epic is really regreting being unable to access the PS3 with they most successful IP in recent years they will say it out in public? Dont you think that would affect their relationship with MSFT?.
Im not saying that they are devastated for being bind to the X360 userbase for the moment but the thoughs on the back of their head thinking about the extra money they could be making by being completely mutiplat is there, and yes they maybe regret itm but there should be no crying in gaming.

The man is consistantly wrong. I do not understand why people place any value in what he says.
Jeez Epic is in denial, hurts to see a company like this D: hopefully they will admit their wrong doings and get back onto the right path.

If that is the case, what makes you think that they needed to make any statement about what Pachter said?
Also, I think you are being blind because you are ignoring a lot of facts:
1-Microsoft made Gears what it is today because Microsoft heavily advertised this game (high ammount of advertising, 30 min program, bundles etc etc). [much less money to spend and excellent marketing, so the game will be able to sell much more]
2-Microsoft probably paid for the exclusivity. [more money]
3-Epic has indeed a good relationship with Microsoft. [no regrets]
4-Shadow Complex was developed only for the x360. [they are happy with the x360]
5-Gears of War was a new IP. [much harder to sell if your publisher sucks, so it's better to sell 6M on the x360 with Microsoft's strong marketing strategies than sell 2M on each console]
If you only think about the money that they could make with a PS3 version, the blind person will be you.
You are acting just like Pachter, I hope you won't be an analyst. Sometimes things aren't just "1+1=2".
Epic probably has a big motive to be happy with this deal.
CGI-Quality said: Well, in the world of journalism, his comments can spread like the plague. Luckily, Epic was there to rectify the situation before it could get out of hand. |
and you expected Epic to say they regret their contract with MS? ...........

they didn't make any "statement" ...they were asked about it, and they denied it, simple as that. Would you have expected anything different from Epic?
Oh oh oh, i'm sorry to say this, but A LOT of you guys are so unbelievably uninformed and/or naïve. Like in this particular case, he just said that he "thinks" that Epic regrets the exclusivity deal because Gears of War became way more popular than Epic probably thought. It's clear that the game would have sold a few million copies more if it also was on PS3, so Pachters logic soinds like common sense. So, let's say that Pachter is indeed right, than do you guys really think that Epic would say: "Pachter is actually right. We wish we never signed an exclusive deal with Microsoft cause we would have made a lot more money when the franchise would have been a multiplatform franchise".
Another thing. A lot of you guys often misinterprit Pachters' statements, or read his statements on a website where the author often misinterprits statements. It's just a tip, but the next time you judge Pachter and his statements, than at least read/watch the source material, like in this case the bonus round, and put his statements in perspective. And don't forget, he's an anylist, who's job it is to make educated guesses based on information that you and i probably don't know about. And yes, analysts can also be wrong, but that's what you get when you always have to predicts thibgs that did not happen yet.
But hey, why am i even trying to defend him? It's not like you guys will stop being uninformed or naïve, cause why would you? It takes too much trouble to figure out what really happened. And to be honest, i don't even blame you. Anyway, of course i'm not talking about all you guys, just about the ones who lack common sense.
