Forums - General Discussion - What was the best decade for music?

1. What was  the best decade for music?

50's / Elvis, Chuck Berry and Rock & Roll

60's / The Beatles and The British Invasion, Psychedelia and the beginnings of Heavy Metal

70's / Arena Rock, FM Radio, Punk, Drugs and Rock & Roll. And disco.

80's / New Wave, Hair Metal and MTV.

90's / Grunge, Alternative, RockCountryPop blurring and Boy Groups

00's / Every possible Genre and SubGenre and SubSubGenre imaginable

2. Rank the decades in order.

For me it would be:

1. 50's 2. 60's 3. 70's 4. 80's 5. 90's 6. 00's

Music has decreased in quality over time.

The 1950's was the golden decade for music.

For me it's

60s > 70s > 50s > 90s > 80s> 00s

This has easily been the worst decade for music. 90s showed some promise things could get better after the 80s...

tough one, at this exact moment, id say its like this, but this changes alot depending on what im listening to, all 4 of these decades have great bands in them:

1. 80's - The Stone Roses, R.E.M, U2
2. 60's - The Beatles, The Who, The Rolling Stones
3. 90's - Oasis, Britpop
4. 70's - Queen

dont really listen to anything from before the 60's, much of what ive heard from then I dont like (elvis)

the 00's has been truly dire, other than great bands from previous decades new work, its been full of awful music.

This thread seems to ignore the myriad types of electronic and classical music, so:

00's (for the perfection of breakcore) > 90's (for the invention of breakcore) > 1550-1900 (for the perfection of classical music) > every other period

WHERE IS MY KORORINPA 3

I'd have to break it down a little more to 1966-1975 as the greatest decade of music.

1965-1975.

It is one decade =P

70's > 80's > 90's > 60's > 50's >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 00's

It's the 60s and it's not even close. You started the decade with doo-whop bands like The Supremes and ended it with Simon & Garfunkel, The Beatles, The Stones, The Who, Bob Dylan, etc. etc. etc. It was an incredibly transformative decade.

The 70s would probably come in second place.

Or check out my new webcomic: http://selfcentent.com/

1) 60's
2) 00's
3) 50's
4) 80's
5) 70's
6) 90's

The 60's was the best decade in music. The 00's rank second because we have access to a lot of different music through the internet
