Okay now that's out of the way

This is being done in the spirit of Trestres's Wii comparison thread, which was done in the tradition of the Great Crazzyman Thread of '08. As you guys may remember, Wii's 2009 was pretty weak compared to 2008, in terms of sales, though a very strong (explosive) Q4 ended up bringing it within spitting range. People have theorized that 2009 is the beginning of the Wii's downward spiral. I don't know if that's true. I'm curious about it, though, and how certain games from Q4 of last year will help sustain the system in Q1 of this year. So I'll try to keep this going all eyar - and as a bonus I'll compare it to 2008's numbers, too! Aren't you all lucky.

Wii 2010 numbers for the week ending January 9th:

This is a good start for the Wii! Let's see how it continues to do! But first, we must see how it does versus the first weeks of the last two years!

Wii 2009 numbers for the week ending January 10th:

Wii is UP 96,941 (25.29%) over the same time in 2009. =)))))))

Wii 2008 numbers for the week ending January 05th:

Wii is UP 77,750 (19.32%) over the same time in 2008. =)))))))

My time periods are going to be slightly off from those used by trestres - my year starts with the first week where the majority of the days fell in January, which I think is the VGChartz standard. Yes, this means that some weeks will have advantages over others, but it will even out over time.

Wii is off to a good start! =)))))) Let's see it beat those other punk-ass years like the backward chumps they are!

Pretty much all of 2008 and early 2009 Wii was supply constrained, it will be interesting to see how it does in the coming weeks. When 2009 sales pick up before going into the big slump. Q1 09 was massive.

I hope the Sales improve. Though I'm expecting it to sell slightly less. Than 09. I hope I undertrack it

I'm also interested to see whether the Wii's numbers will be able to hold up against the Wii's first quarter of last year, which was - I think? - the best Q1 in the console's life so far.

I only expect the Wii to decline really. I mean, the Wii came out in 2006! It just isn't logical for it to keep increasing year after year, but it is off to a great start though this year.

you don't have to but if you're gonna have 2010, 2009, and 2008 why not just add 2007 as well for comparison??

Well, the point would be to see if it beats 2009 or 2008 - I have no doubts it'll beat 2007.

Because 2007 was the weakest year in the console's life. Really. Butthat was due to is gaining momentum
