If you want to revisit the RTS genre, I advise that you revisit PC gaming. The PS3 does have a few titles, most notably Red Alert 3 and EndWar, but the quality and sheer quantity of the titles is nowhere near as high as the home of RTS- the PC. I would say that RTS, MMO and to a certain extent FPS, are the genres that belong on PC, while Fighting, RPG, Action Adventure and similar games are better on consoles.

You'll admit that some sub-types of RPG are better on PC I imagine (or rather better with KB+M control).

Off topic a bit, but I's thinking with the KB+M control available on PS3 (is it not available on 360 too?) they could have released Dragon Age origins on PS3 with the same camera views and controls as the PC version. Could have sold as well or even better than it is at the moment.

A console game with PC controls becomes a PC game. On a bigger screen.

You might as well get it on PC for nearly half the price if you're going to use KB+M, imo.

HDTV works with PCs ya know? =P

@Barozi & Senlis: Thank you for telling me several times that my opinion is wrong and especially to Senlis for explaining me the unknown world of RTS as if I've never played Dune II, Warcraft, C&C or AoE. I accept your opinion on Overlord and Pikmin, you don't accept mine, so let's just move on.

@alic18: Sorry that I mentioned the Overlord games as PS3 games with real time strategy elements in your thread. Let's pretend it never happened.

Play RTS on PC....... mouse clicks and massive short cuts can't be done on consoles because they can't have mouse keyboard support due to the MP balance aspect, not everybody has the setup, and having seperate input matches would divide the community which is a bad idea.

while I agree with you in principle that RTS is better on PC, there have been occasions where alternate input configurations and devices have been used in MP without many tears;

you get fight sticks for beat'em ups, flight controls for flight sims, specialised controllers for FPS's and macro anabled/capable peripherals for games like WoW

I don't see why they can't do it for RTS on PS3.

Heck, if kb/mouse support makes people upset in MP, disable it for online MP and keep enabled it for vs. CPU or offline MP

edit: don't forget the use of steering wheel/shifter/pedal set ups for racing games too

Proud Sony Rear Admiral

I'd stay away from console RTSes till at least next generation.
If they can make good accurate pointer then they might be playable on PS4.

Ain't even close to 1/2 the price here. And it's only cheaper if you don't have to buy a new computer in order to play the game. DA:O PC won't work on either my desktop or laptop, so a PC style DA:O for PS3 would have been ideal for me.

I'd say stick with frozen throne/starcraft/aoe on PC.
If you really want Endwar works alright with voice control, i think.
Actually i couldnt be bothered to learn all the controls but i THINK it might be ok

bahahahaha. RTS on consoles??? let alone othe PS3. Sure maybe the 360 will get a few like Supreme Commander but the PS3 is severely lacking my favorite genre. There is Red Alert but its not offering much and I have high hopes for Under Siege. Mushroom wars is worth a try and tower defense game are fun but still are not true RTS games.

I dont understand it either because the PS3 has keyboard and Mouse capabilities so all it takes is a port from PC to PS3. Dont worry about Controllers just make it Keyboard and Mouse only.

You're favorite genre and you want them to port them over? I don't understand, if it is your favorite type of games why wouldn't you be a PC gamer primarily then occassional console player?

It's like saying FPS is my fav but I have a home console and would love those PC FPS to be ported over. Why don't I just get a gaming rig to play FPS on PC?

I can tell you that the PC market has more than enough RTS to keep you happy if it is your favorite genre.

Well you see its quite simple.  I used to be primarily a PC gamer 1st and a console gamer second.  However I have then since moved out and can not afford a gaming rig as all my money goes to school.   I did however take my PS3 with me and it is powerful enough to handle the many RTS on the computer.  If they used keyboard and mouse support for the games, then the ports wouldn't suck, or at least as much.

The only reason PC is a superior RTS and FPS experience is because of the Mouse.  They PS3 can use a MOUSE!!!  I wish more devs would notice this.  They did it for Unreal Tournament 3.

I understand your point but please keep in mind that the standard input device for the PS3 is the main controller where as the PC is K+M. The developers must play the roll as any other system to know that most consumers that bought X system was for many reasons and one could be because they don't want to play with K+M. So that's why the consumer bought X system (to use the K+M on the PS3 is an option) with the mind set to play using a controller so the games must be centered around controllers, the K+M is a fine option for the small minority that would like to.
