That's why all these racing games make it look like the cars float across the track!  No one has mastered the physics of a true road not being 100% flat surface.  Notice how obvious the shudder of the car is on the REAL footage as opposed to the butter smooth footage of GT5?

this is yamauchi you are talking about, hes a racer as well.

also its not like race tracks have bumps and all, they're as flat as surfaces should be or else it would be illegal to open them as race tracks.

Then it is engine vibrations or some other variable they are not mesuring properly and not applying to their game mechanics.  It's a pretty noticeable and somewhat disruptive difference between the two.

the camera makes the most difference that

in real life the camera is kind of blury and the sunlight seems to fade things

in GT5 the camera is clean and sunlight is controlled,it doesn't fade the surrounding and lets us see how beautiful the course is

A simulation, in this case, ends up coming off looking too "clean" compared to real life.  The fade, and other imperfections are what make the real life stand out more real.  Of course, being more "fake" looking can help make a game better to play actually.

And, connected to the "uncanny valley" issue, I believe the closer you get to real, the more the lack of the "imperfections" cause the simulation to stand out as more fake.

I think some of you guys are reading waaay too much into the video. Can't we all just agree that GT5 will be one of the best sim. racers of all time-that is till GT6 arrives :p

*note* GT6 probably will not be out till later this gen or next, so I'm assuming a good 2 years if its a speedy sequel to 5-6 if its meant for the PS4. I'm going with the former.
