Forums - Sony Discussion - God of War III to run on 720p natively with variable frame rate.

GT5 Prologue runs at 1280x1080. I don't recall seeing anything about the resolution that the full game will boast. Unless I missed the interview where Yamauchi actually confirms the resolution the game will have...

Just because Prologue used a given resolution during racing segments doesn't mean [at all] that GT5 will go the same exact route.

But even if it does, it still looks better than anything from the competition so I'm more than fine with it.

Same thing that happened to all the games that were supposed to be 1080p this gen, the hardware just cant handle it at a decent enough framerate yet.

GT5 does it.

no it doesn't.

Its 1080p in the garage and menus and 1280x1080 in game.

so whast resolution would that be

If they promised that GoW III was gonna be 1080p native, and at the end it is 720p native... how do you call that? I call it, don't deliver.

And we should wait about the GT5 being 1080p, b/c that's what they said about GoWIII

Either way, it doesn't matter... if the game is as good as 1 & 2, i could care less about 1080p x)

As for the comment before...are those games 1080p native?

Cars Mater-National = 1280x720 (QAA), 1920x1080 (QAA)

Fifa Street 3 = 1920x1080 (no AA)

Full Auto 2 (demo) = 1920x1080 (4x AA)

Marvel: Ultimate Alliance = 1280x720 & 1920x1080 (no AA)

MLB09: The Show = 1280x720 (2xAA) or 1920x1080 (no AA)

NBA07 (demo) = 1920x1080 (no AA)

NBA08 (demo) = 1920x1080 (no AA)

NBA Street Home court (screenshot) = 1920x1080 (no AA)

Ridge Racer 7 (demo) = 1920x1080 (no AA)

Sacred 2: Fallen Angel = 1280x720 when sub-HD output selected, 1920x1080 for any HD output (no AA)

Virtua Tennis 3 = 1920x1080 (2x AA)

World Series Of Poker 2008 = 1920x1080 (2xAA)

They are your native 1080P games.

Just in case you or anyone wanted to know how many games are actually 1080P. The question I would ask is how many people would realistically expect this game to be native 1080P output?

See if we look at the old God of War the cutscenes looked the best.  Each frame runs at a certain speed with a certain level of graphics.  Its just like the pc with the requirements.  We don't want the game to drag, b/c we will get some major complaints.  They (creators of GOW) realized that and lowered the resolution.  Its cool with me!

Guys it's no big deal. Generally I'd rather have 720p. You get more texture work and bigger environments. Becasue the console is using less power for a higher res. To be honest 720p looks great. I couldnt care less if a game is 1080p. Yes it looks crisper, but generally looks blander to. Using resources for a smoother and more detailed experience is better imo.

You're right.  I use my PS3 in 1080 & 720, to be honest don't notice much difference.
