do you have a multimeter? it is almost key to have one if you are going to work on electronics. Heck, if you had one you could easily check if the power supply is bad.

Good idea.  My uncle has one and said we will check it out later today.

It was probably thrown out for a reason. If a tv that you found on the street doesn't work it probably means it was thrown out. Considering you found it outside just consider yourself lucky the thing isn't filled with cockroaches. Kid, maybe you should ask for a tv for your birthday. Because I doubt you will find working mint condition electronics in the garbage.

I threw out 2 perfectly fine CRT monitors because I couldn't find anyone who would take them. People throw out working stuff all the time. Heck, I've picked track lights with working bulbs out of dumpsters. I also found a complete stereo system next to a dumpster with working turntable and everything. I should have taken the turntable, but ended up passing on it as I only needed the speakers.

I see what you're saying. But if someone threw it away in snowy weather it probably isn't too safe to mess around with. For all OP knows a hobo could have peed on it. Also electrocution isn't fun and skin grafts hurt.

My name is blubeard because rosie has a blue beard. Just not on her chest.
