Forums - Sony Discussion - PS3 (PSP by proxy) gets DVR add-on

According to Destructoid, the PS3 is getting a USB DVR add-on.

That's... pretty cool.  Even allows you to record to a memory stick, for your PSP.

If/when it comes to the States, I will certainly be getting one.

I was wondering how long it would take them to get this released. Finaaly something that might fill up my 500GB HDD

Oh. My. God!! That's awesome!!! No more ripping DVD's and buying from the PSN when this feature comes.

Thats awesome, does this mean i can record TV? If so ill buy it day one.

Is this not exactly the same as PlayTV? Will it do HD TV broadcasts?

This particular device does HD, yeah, but I think its Japan-only at this point.  PlayTV is SD only, and only in Europe.

This add-on may serve to really increase the popularity of the PS3 in Japan, which means good things for PS3 games *from* Japan, in other regions, if it doesn't also mean that the device itself makes it to the Americas and Europe someday.

That's excellent.
Something to watch when on the bog. I'm always running out of reading material. Shame I don't have a PS3 or PSP.
