i'm not agree.
the userbase when GT3 or GT came out were less than 25M consoles, and still, they did great, with more than 10M+ units sold. the fanbase of GT series it's intact, you can quote me on that, in fact, it's bigger than before since now the game is more expanded to the mainstream thanks to the PS2 and its piracy. i can see GT5 getting the 10M mark in a year or two. Halo:Reach imo, will not get into the 8M let alone 10M, why? because 70% of the Halo 3 buyers are casual gamers and if they don't see a 4 in the cover of Halo:Reach, they'll not buy it, just like Halo:ODST. besides this, it's normal to see a decline on the sales of the series since it's the 3rd game in the same system (4th if you count Halo Wars). The only chance to get more than 6M sales it's the Marketing, and even if you think that it'll be massively hyped...Natal will take most of the money for ads. i can bet i all of my statements.
it seems to be that most of the users in VGChartz are doubting about the size of Gran Turismo series. |
That highlighted bit is a very weak foundation for the theory that GT5 will sell similiar to gt5. Yes ps2 had similiar console base rate to the ps3 when gt3 came out, but it didn't sell 10m+ in the first week did it? It was not very early loaded, but had great legs, this was mainly because the ps2 since gt3 came out sold about 100mill more consoles. PS3 has no chance of that.
