it would be a great day for me if microsoft went away.

early on in my gaming, i was all about nintendo but i never hated sega.

later on i loved sony but i never hated nintendo.

now that i'm an adult, i want whats best for me. i HATE microsoft in the gaming industry.

this is my opinion, you can take it or leave it. anyone who thinks microsoft brought anything to the gaming industry is new to gaming. yes, they have an excellent online service but i personally think that would have been the natural progression of video games. even if sony or nintendo didn't do it, somebody would have.

yes they have a nice interface. they make *ucking windows!!!! they should have a nice interface. with nice menus and all the rest!!!

what makes me mad about microsoft is how they are affecting the games we see now. i honestly feel like the gaming world we be better right now if they weren't involved. i just checked the site today to catch up on my news only to see that so much shit was cut out of ff13 that they could make another game. what does that tell you??? microsoft has so much money that they can sway a company that lives off of this franchise to compromise the integrity of their flagship title.

its not just with ff13. other titles have been delayed or rebuilt so that they can run the same on both systems. no wait, sometimes they run worse on the playstation because its easier to develop on a system thats not as advanced.

it truley boggles my mind why gamers would stand for that. yeah the economy is down, money is tight. at the end of the day, these companies have to make good games. i've seen so many titles that did well last gen that can hardly sell this gen. why do you think this is?

i honestly feel like microsoft is looking at what the ps2 did and is trying to immitate that. how is that looking towards the future? the best thing i think they have done was gears of war. it was fresh, it looked great, it showed progression. other than that(and left for dead) all they have been doing is making sure that they can get anything that sony has or had.

also lets take a look at Rare. i used to love that company. they could really be producing some grat things for microsofts camp. what do we have? perfect dark, FAIL. viva pinata and banjo and kazooee. really? really??? where killer instinct? wheres some new games by this great company?

sorry, i'm ranting. i guess my whole point is that microsoft has so much money but they dont really know what to do with it. i would LOVE to see some of these other companies to take a stab at it. apple, samsung, toshiba, ANYBODY!!!!

I really don't think microsoft understands gamers as they do popular culture. halo was a hit. great. you'll get plenty of halo as long as you have an xbox. what else though? i think nintendo and sony do a much better job understanding there market. i'd love to see them go away.

Blah, Blah, Blah ... didn't even read < I just skimmed through cause you are going on forever. YO, XBOX HAS A CRAP LOAD OF GAMES, GO LOOK.

YOU HAVE NO CLUE.

The FF thing, dude they cut the sh-t out because sh-t always gets cut out. plus they had to waste so much money on developement for the ps3 that they need to sell the cut out sh-t as a expansion pack(KIDDING). YOUR POINTS  are bias and Well, just stupid..... M$ made sony strive for something better, if M$ was not around then sony wouldn't try as hard. If sony was not around neither would M$.

TAKE a chill pill. YOU sound like your going to have a panic attack.

Microsoft drops xbox? couldn't careless because the games they have that interest me are on PC too and Im pretty sure PC wont go anywhere so no loss for me, weather they stay or not I dont really care.

First of all, the 360 hasn't done anywhere near as well this generation as is being suggested in this thread.

The 360 is in a distant, unprofitable second place with an insignificant lead over the 3rd place console. Oh yeah, that's exactly where it was last generation. It sells moderately well in North America, okay in Europe, and basically nothing in Japan. The only system that it's managed to outsell all generation is the PS3, which makes the 360 the second-worst selling system of the generation, a distant fourth behind the PSP. To be honest, the only reason it even has a lead over the PS3 is because it had a year headstart and because Sony fucked up so badly, and if the PS3 has poor sales, then it's really not a good idea to use it as a standard to measure the success of another system, including the 360. Hell, there were about 5.3 million 360's sold when the PS3 launched, so from that standpoint, the 360 has only sold about 200 000 more systems in the same time period.

If you want to examine this further, look at software. The best-selling games of the generation are on the DS and the Wii. If you make a list starting with the best-selling game, 360 titles don't start to appear until about 17th or 18th on the list. For all of the 3rd party games that have been sold on the 360, it's still more profitable for devs to support the DS and the Wii.

Simply put, the 360 appeals only to core and hardcore gamers. It simply doesn't have mass appeal. You can argue for Xbox Live all you want, but most gamers out there don't really care that much about online play. Only 50% of Xbox 360 owners even have a gold account.

In regards to the topic, MS will release another system, but they'll probably be done after that. The only reason Microsoft even ventured into the market with the Xbox is because they saw the PlayStation as a threat to their OS monopoly. Now that that threat is over, the market has rejected Sony's(and Microsoft's) convergence plans, and given the fact that MS still hasn't even achieved mass appeal or consistent profitability(even when aided by Sony's colossal mistakes), there really wouldn't be much more reason for them to keep making systems.

Wow! Last time I checked M$ was makeing money and sony wasn't.

M$ is making money already and  we are only half way through this generation. M$ is going to make a butt load of money if things continue on the road they are going.

MICROSOFT is in a great position. with natal coming out they are going to be able to capture a part of the cusual and keep the hardcore. At any time they can drop price and still make money while putting pressure on sony with out it being on them.

M$ is in it for the long hall buddy, don't get your hopes up of them leaving. This generation has shown that they are diffently a competitor and will be for a long time.

Microsoft deserves to be in the indutry, they gave it: online, shooters, rts, WRPG, achievements, HDD and really made it so that you don't need a computer on the side. If anything then I want Sony to leave or to work together with Microsoft and make one console to stand against Nintendo. The two are really hurting each other while Nintendo hardly feels any competition. But I do think it is possible for Microsoft to leave if it doesn't give them the profit they wanted. But I hope they realize that it is a hard market, that they have come a long way, that if it wasn't for PRoD they would be doing better and that they have build up a strong brandname with the xbox so a third round could be very succesful for them.

As much as i like to see M$ fall,i doubt very much M$ will leave the video game industry, in fact its better for them to stay, in return there will no be a monopoly in the videogame industry. Companies like Sony and Nintendo will then start to innovate them selves and a sense of competition will arise like what is it now. we have to thank M$ for what they did, cause in return it changed sony's tactics in doing business in the industry.

However one thing i hate is, M$ ways of doing business which is, in simple terms very f**king dirty.

No, the 360 is the best gaming console ever.

I wouldn't mind if Nintendo disappeared. I don't care how much they sell, I just don't care for their games.

no its not.

Nintendo is much much better than MS

Hey lets argue about someone's opinion by giving my own opinion! How about we just let people have their own opinions or atleast give a reason why you disagree.

As someone who's always been disappointed by Playstations I would rather Sony leave if I had to choose. Has Sony ever brought anything innovative to the industry? No. All they've done is just imitated everything that Nintendo and Microsoft have done (even now with the wand and trophies) also as it's been stated Microsoft are making the profits and Sony are making the losses and if they don't learn from their mistakes next time then I'm not sure many of their shareholders would want them to continue in this business.

Whether you like Microsoft or not they've brought a lot to the gaming industry and for me personally the Xbox 360 has been the first console I've actually used more than it's Nintendo counterpart ever so I don't see any reason why they would pull out right now but if I had my way I would like Sony to withdraw if any, just my opinion.

Good point, I didn't think of it that way.

This was a good debate!
