I think it goes without saying that there'll be Wii HD.

I think it's a matter of when it'll be released and how much will change between the Wii and Wii HD. Will the next Wii include new different controllers, or continue with the same Wii controller set-up and just upgrade graphics.

Also, what other possible features could it have. Nintendo will also need to compete with Natal coming out later this year, and SONY's 3D and motion control.

The potential success of each of these additional features can be argued about, but each of HD consoles are adding features, and the Wii isn't. It doesn't mean the Wii isn't fun... but the Wii needs to maintain or increase sales (same as the HD consoles) but it doesn't appear as though Nintendo has announced anything to address this yet.

I think it goes without saying that people have gone bonkers with their suspicions. What Wii HD? What competition? So far the competition is a no-subject with Sony as it doesn't even have a complete control scheme made. We keep hearing about Natal and how many companies are producing games for it and we haven't seen even one so far. We don't even know how much of the hd twin audience is interested in these inventions.

As far as Nintendo is concerned, they're miles ahead of where the other two are at this point.

I think Natal will compete with the Wii crowd more then the current HD crowd. The use of Natal as a controller for Netflix is probably more significant than any games that will support Natal. It'll will appeal to consumers that aren't already interested in the X-box. The point is to expand X-Box current market not compete for current HD users.

I agree the Nintendo has been the most successful of the 3 by far, but they're still planning for their next itteration.

ha HUGE SPECULATION. there has been huge speculation for a Wii HD for every event ever since the Wii was released.

besides graphics are everything, or did you guys not enjoy last generation at all because of how shitty that graphcis were? i love how the best games and peopels favorite games can be on the PS2, but the Wii is just total shit and all games suck becuase of graphics.

Do we REALLY need  a Wii HD? The only thing that 360/PS3 have over Wii are graphics. Everything else in games are last gen nothing really pushing the limits besides graphics.

better online? more features? can play DVD/Blu Ray? better 3rd party support? bigger HDD?

Online can be updated via software

Features again software

DVD- Software

Better 3rd party support - opinion

HDD- Addon

Also i was talking about games, not hardware.

Most games have linear SP and basic MP, the only real games i see that are not possible on last gen consoles are MAG and R2 oh and Halo 3.

All of these quotes are funny.  The geniuses of Sony and MS have been preaching about how the Wii is down for the count but it's been outselling them brutally ever since it's launched.  Maybe if they lived in reality and made decisions based off of what's actually happening, their consoles would be in better positions rather than getting outsold 2:1 on a regular basis.

If what is meant by this that Nintendo will eventually get around to releasing a system that works well in high def, that is definitely possible.  However, what Nintendo did say was that they will only release a system when it can do stuff they need it to do, that they can't do now.  This was also said to go beyond just graphics.  The graphics arms race is one with ever-diminishing returns for less and less payout.  Nintendo doesn't want to play this game, no matter how many core people here clamour for it.  And odds are these individuals won't even buy a high def Wii, because they don't like motion control.

@Garnett - The 360 & PS3 are made for a more mature audience, like Heavy Rain, God of War 3, Mass Effect, Alan Wake & Bioshock etc...etc..

They are more than just graphics. The Wii can add more accessories to compensate for lack of hardware capabilities. The Wii does have a few mature games, like Silent Hill; but the 360 & PS3 offer more in terms of downloadable content & more mature games.

Just my opinion.

@Mr. sickvisionz - Yes, Nintendo have found the 'Casual Market'.

Yeah. I did mean that Nintendo's next itteration of the Wii will likely have higher resolution.

By an HD Wii I meant the next Wii will support a higher resolution not necessarily the top of the line graphics.

I have to disagree. I think games has gone a lot further this generation. Well mostly console games concidering they now properly cover most pc genres (something they didn't do last gen.)

Gameplay and storytelling has evolved. Seemless fluidity in games has also evolved.

AI has .. slightly evolved :p

and graphics.. has massively evolved.

If you look at it, in my opinion most aspects of games has really evolved a lot this generation. This doesen't only cover visual fidelity although it's naturally one of the things that's most obvious.

The flow and fluidity of games are one of the mostly improved aspects if you ask me...

Ofcourse this is just my opinion.

Check out my game about moles ^

Hasn't this gen taught you kiddies that graphics clearly don't mean anything?

^Wii HD isn't for this gen it's for next gen.
