So...what about the people who aren't interested in Natal?

Who's making traditional games for my 360 then?

There will still be tons of non-Natal controlled games. Just looking at this years 360 release list tells you that, atleast for 2010, we're still safe from the Natal effect. Most companies will probably only be making one Natal game and see how sales go from there. Also, most games will most likely have standard controls with the ability to have Natal controls (Fable 3). Natal is a test how much MS can grab from Wii's casual userbase and how well they can sell games with motion controls. If everyone flocks to Natal then you can expect less controller type games in the future but I would say thru 2011 we're still pretty safe, and even then there will always be controller only games.

Yeah, I know that controller game will exist at least for long time coming.

My worry is that who will be making these game. I don't want an influx of ninjabread man quality games to flood the HD twins.

Most publishers have stated they are moving away from casual and focusing on the hard core gamers...  I think what we have seen this generation is that a large percentage of hard core gamers buy games while a very low percentage of the casual market purchase more than a few games (Look at 360 and PS3 software sales vs. Wii.  The publishers are realizing this and focusing more on the hard core primarily.

EA stated that they need to focus more on the hard core gamers in their latest financials, THQ is focusing on the hard core with a marked quality improvement with Darksiders and probably Metro 2033.  There is still lots of hard core experiences coming.  You have to remember that even if Microsoft comes out with a killer Natal game, there will still only be up to 7,000,000 Natals sold by the end of Christmas 2010 (At the highest).  This is less than 1/5th the current 360 console base.  This would not be a sole taget market for most publishers unless after Christmas the 360 is posting Wii-like sales numbers.

70% of publishers having Natal games is encouraging, but until we know more it is hardly exciting ...

Until I get more information I would assume most of the games will be ports, clones, sequels or spin-offs of the games these publishers have produced for the Wii; with similar effort put into their Natal efforts as was put into their Wii efforts. In a handful of cases these games might be worth picking up if you have already committed to buying Natal, but in most cases the games should be avoided regardless. Now I could be wrong and these publishers who insist upon only producing low-budget Wii Games regardless of how well it sells (or how much software it sells) may decide to put a reasonable effort into Natal in spite of it having a userbase of 0 and the development costs associated with a reasonable effort on the XBox 360 being dramatically higher than what it would be on the Wii.

well maybe 70-80% of publishers suck? lol

Maybe not even half the publishers are working on Xbox 360 games, so why should Natal get over 70% of publishers?! That's impossible.

I would assume that he is being very particular in his selection of publishers to include, and he would probably only be caring about the top 20 or 30 publishers in the world; which is entirely fair being that the vast majority of all games sold would be from these publishers.

On a side note, I do wonder how many of these games will be full priced retail Natal only games and how many of these publishers are producing games that have alternate control schemes or how many will be budget or downloadable games.

Presumably he only means major publishers, because there are many times more minor publishers undoubtedly not working on Natal games.

A game I'm developing with some friends:

www.xnagg.com/zombieasteroids/publish.htm

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

360 owners who made fun of Wii's shovelware better get ready for an ocean of crap coming their way. XD
Make no mistake, of course I'm sure there'll be good games for Natal, but if Wii is any indication, the shovelware garbage will far, far outweigh the quality titles.
Developers who were unsure of Wii's potential when it came out and therefore hesitant to release titles on it (almost all of 'em) at launch won't make the same mistake twice, so they're gonna want a piece of the pie and release as much as they possibly can as fast as they can. Beware.

It's gonna be interesting, that's for sure.

im fucking tire of natal. natal here, natal there, natal bla bla. just show some great footage of a great game and shut the fuck off (im talking about MS).

the Natal hate on VGC is legendary. What is the problem? MS pushes an innovation and gets lots of respect and hype for this. I don't see something bad in it.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...
