Blu-ray Player Software?

Total:0

Along with the laptop I purchased 6 months ago came a copy of WinDVD 8 which is supposed to be Blu-ray compatible.  Unfortunately, it doesn't work for all but the earliest Blu-ray discs.  This is a problem.  I looked for a patch, but there doesn't seem to be one for the standard (not Gold or Platinum editions) edition.  So, what should I do?

I know there's currently no free Blu-ray player software.  However, I really don't wanna shell out $50-100 bucks for some program.  What's the chances of a free player emerging in the next half year or so?  Generally, I use VLC, and it can read the individual files if used in conjunction with AllDVD, but that doesn't really work that well.

Is it an HP computer? If so, the QuickPlay and MediaSmart software can be used to watch Blu-Ray movies. I have the PowerDVD 9 Ultra to watch my Blu-Ray movies (I only have a documentary of Ireland and Planet Earth).

Nope, it's an MSI GT725-212.
