Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Greenberg: "Millions of Natals in Consumers' Homes this Holiday"

American and UK sales of Natal and new XBox 360 Arcades will be huge this year with Natal. Consumers always want the latest and greatest new product on the market. Natal could revolutionise the way games are played even further. No remote is needed, Natal relies on human movement and your voice. Be interesting to see which games take full advantage of this new technology.

Natal will definitely be included in the new XBox if it is successful. Just like XBox Live was implemented last generation and started this generation as standard with XBox 360 from day one.

I think the potential is there are seriously huge sales of Natal in the holiday season. It might drive "hardcore" gamers bonkers, but don't underestimate the power of casual gamers, as you'd think they wouldn't, after Wii Fit sells as many units as it does. With the right mix of software and hype, I think Natal can push 5-6 million units over the holidays season.

Natal will sell millions during the Holiday season, it's ridiculous to think it won't.

so many viral marketers in here.

Natal bundled with every 360 sold from launch date. Price for both Elite and Arcade remains the same making it a virtual price drop. "Millions" = 2 million+ if they bundle with every 360 sold then they will achieve the "millions" easily, given more than a few existing owners will go out and by the peripheral to supplement the bundling sales.

Unless Sony does the same with the wand Natal will blast past the wand for install base and hence SW support, even with a 3-4 month lead for the Wand.

I don't doubt that they can sell several million, by bundling it with told IP sequels, like Halo, and Fable. They can easily sell 10-20 million in a year.
But by doing this, they don't actually profit from it. xbox fans will buy a more expensive set-up, Microsoft will lose money (I can't see them selling that thing for profit), gaming will require more peripherals, the market will be more divided.

Natal will also push millions of new XBox 360 consoles around the world except Japan. Oh well, Japan is not the be all and end all of the video game industry.
Natal will bring in casual gamers who will purchase the Arcade 360 which will be even cheaper, probably $99 when Natal is launched. No HDD required for Natal is bonus.

I think Natal will actually explode in japan, japanese market is a wierd  and they have a lot of arcades that are interactive.

I could be wrong but don't count japan out, this could be the break M$ has been waiting for.

P.s whats up with the pic? you know there is all guys in here. Put a sexy chick.

I'm sorry, but this has FLOP written all over it..

First of all, it's a console add on, and we all know how these perform.

Second, it's already PROVEN that it can't do everything MS claims, it'll be a glorified eye toy.

3rd, where are the games?? Seriously, not a SINGLE game shown thus far! It'll either see massive delays, or it will come out when they say it does, and the games will be highly rushed and be terrible quality.

I will gladly eat crow if I'm wrong, but this product has all the makings of a financial disaster, and/or disappointment in terms of what it can do.

Assuming they bundle Natal prior to and then through December 2010 then sure, looking at this years sales, even if 360 was down YOY millions of consoles should sell in the latter end of the year, and if enough are bundled then his quote will be accurate.

Now, if Natal is sold purely on it's own I'm not so sure, unless it was bundled with a game MS managed to generate a lot of interest in.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

I can't believe how many people here seem to think this will sell on tech alone. Only gadget geeks are going to pay $100 (or whatever) to wave their hands at menus and talk to menus. Natal NEEDS GAMES.
