Atari dies when Bushnell sold it to Warner in 1976. After that it was nothing but downhill and multiple companies just buying the name to try and profit off of the original Atari's legacy.

Sad, for nostagla's sake anyway.
Top 3 favorite games: Super Mario Galaxy, The Sims 2 (PC), The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
Atari has a lot of good IPs, what really needed to be done is flush all those execs for competent ones.
Sony should do the same.
I don't know if the current holder of the name Atari (Inforgrams) even has rights to the old Atari 2600, 5200, Jaguar games. I havn't seen anything to suggest they purchased the rights to those. I don't think buying this Atari (the 3rd company using the name if I'm not mistaken) would have any real value at all.
But my son will simply die if DBZ:BT3 doesn't make it out due to bankrupcy or loss of license. NO, it's not much different except it's online!
If Atari folds heres hoping Obsidian finds a good publishing partner. Still a few Black Isle guys over there.

They might head to EA based on past endeavors where it seems seems like they're only good at picking up the scraps Bioware leaves behind.
However, their new games all seem to be partnered with Sega so I don't believe Atari leaving the arena would affect any of their current designs.
So long atari it's been nice, you last a long time but now its time to leave the industry. I hope microsoft buys them out, they have a good franchise that will do wonders in japan "DragonballZ"
