Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Natal, willl MS pull it off?

i hope natal is awesome because to be frank with all of you 2010 will be the year i stop gaming and grow up i need to buy myself a subaru sti , and its not gonna buy itself!

i need to career focused and i hope by the time i get back into gaming 2013-2016 i will be more excited , its the end of an hd era for me after gran turismo 5 and FF13.

ive waited years for ff13 and gt5 and ill play the daylights out of these games when they are released! (mass effect 2 included :D),

and remember the nostalgia back in the days of playing ff7, ff8 and bunking class to finish ff8, only to be busted by a prefect and my headmaster, who ended up watching me fight the end boss along with my boarder mates for 55 minutes only to see me die right at the end!! evr1 went late to lunch that day, i was ripped off so badly because of that day but it makes me so happy remembering it now!

Well, they pulled off the xbox and 360. Who knows how popular it will be, but it's getting massive media coverage and brilliant advertising is one of MS' strongpoints.

ZOMFG! The thought that Ballmer would like to brainwash families down to this level makes me shrubbery shudder!

I'm a little iffy. My X360 atm is only used for two things. Movies (netflix) and FPS games.

On the one hand Natal seems like it could be an awesome way to control my X360 to play movies. 'Start Netflix', 'Play Star Trek', or swiping my hand from side to side to search through the library and selecting which movie to play. Although when the X360 is turned off it seems like ill still need my controller to turn it on, which probably means i'll habitually still use the controller to navigate NXE.

On the other hand I find most motion control schemes for FPS games _repulsive_, especially the type that might be done for Netal. Using an air gun to shoot with, playing on-rails. It'd be enough to make me ditch playing FPS games on X360 altogether. Then what good would X360 be at that point when PS3 gets native netflix support?

There is another thought i've had for a little while. Natal is an add-on. So will there be games which _require_ Natal to work, I wouldn't think so. If Natal isn't _necessary_ to play certain games, then will it ever move past the niche audience? If certain games require Natal, then there will be a split, those games that don't use Natal and those games that require Natal.

I'll leave those who argue about 'casual' vs 'hardcore' games to other people.
