Not sure what the title of the OP has to do with what Pachter said - unless you read between the lines.

Basically, it appears that Gamestop did not order enough stock and did not have enough specials.

And as for blaming the Wii, didn't it just set a record in the US for sales?

If that is the case, the blame would be that video game buyers are going elsewhere than Gamestop.

Well he got the delay of GTA4 right. He fails all of the important predictions though...

He gets all the important ones right, you know, the ones he's paid to make...

 Stuff he says that ends up as part of 'internet warz' tends to be a bit out there and too farfetched to be right. But then, no one would care if it wasn't like that, right?

I think the main reason Gamestop business was down is that it did a very poor business matching the sales that its competitor offered during that period. ( the WallMart 50$ giftcards, the Toys R Us and Best Buy buy 2 get one and so on.....).

Care to reference some of those important predictions that he got right?

I'm remembering things like "PS3 win will due to Blu-Ray", "Wii HD to come in two years.. no three...", and such.

The thing that gets is how he assumes only Wii sales will stagnate. The Xbox360 is in its 6th year; will sales suddenly rise for it now? PS3's hardware sales will probably go up, or remain flat, but that console won't have much in terms of software sales outside of the exclusive titles either. The sequel syndrome that helped all consoles won't apply as much in 2010 as it did last year.

Whose to say all these action games or new IPs won't underperform anyways? Geez louise....

I think you guys are missing the point, hes saying that wii owners get there stuff from places like Wal-Mart, while Ps3 and 360 owners frequent gamestop. Thus those two consoles are more important for gamestops bottom line.

Of course they get them from Walmart when all the good wii titles are out of stock at Gamestop.

Except that overall Wii is the console that was the most down on the year so that would not explain why gamestop was impacted so much.......
