Only seen the trilogy once and never the extended versions. Gotta see them again some time.

Btw, the Hobbit is a terrible book.

I haven't heard many people say that before.

I loved it when I read it as a teen and I still do today. I prefer it to either of the Lord of the Rings' volumes.

Just out of curiousity, what didn't you like about it? The most common complaint I've heard from its detractors was that it wasn't very accessible - to which I disagree, but that's irrelevent. That it had too much discription.

On topic: I loved the movies. I thought there were fantastic adaptations of the book.

Feh. The Hobbit is better than the others. The Hobbit was more lighthearted, and more believable, yet at the same time more fantastical. The Ring was more awesome when it was unexplained, Sauron was more awesome as the mysterious Necromancer. There was no place for the Stone Giants or Beorn in Lord of the Rings, because the world was too rational, and yet at hte same time less believable.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

... Surely, you jest!?

It was really boring. Very little action involved, characters were pretty boring. It had a good ending though, I guess. But overall the book was pretty uneventful and I'm not expecting the movie to be much good except at the battle at the end because movie battles are more drawn out than book battles...

Hmm, that's an interesting stance. I'd argue that there was no more an interesting character than Bilbo Baggins in the entire series.

Clearly I edited my previous far too slowly.

For me nothing was better than Aragorn, Legolas, and that one dwarf along with them whose name I forget and their journeying. Well, besides the battles of course. But I thought they were pretty cool characters and the fights they got into were pretty awesome. Actually my favorite character was Aragorn...

Yeah, Gimli was, especially in the movies, a great comic relief. I too, really like Aragorn, especially in Fellowship of the Ring.

The Hobbit is a wonderful book, can't wait for the movies.

Great movies, too bad you didn't get to see them in the theater though, totally transcendant experience, man.

Also, my fiancee is having a custom designed "One Ring" style ring designed for my wedding band. I'm so excited!

Nerd.
