No I don't, I defend the 360 when it needs defending, I just find it amazing that people (not you necessarily) seem to be blind to the fact that the 360 isn't the console that's in the best shape for 2010. It's also strange that people talk about the 360 having the best quality games when that is very subjective and if anybody brings up the number of PS3 games that were above 85 or 90 on metacritic in comparison to the 360, they'll say something like 'you can't trust reviewers' or 'game quality is subjective' (seems this can be used both ways).

Definitely better than 2009.

And you can be as subjective as you wish, but the 360 2010 lineup is amazing.

No doubt the XBOX 360 has a better exclusive line up this year but so do the other consoles. The PS3 line up basically cancels out the 360 line up as they are very similar in quality (I'm sure you can agree there) and what you're left with is a Q2 GEM vs. a Q4 Natal and PS3's momentum vs. 360's decline. Which is what I meant when I said 'the best shape for 2010'

Look I just look at the sentence '2010 will be the biggest year in XBOX history' and kinda have to wonder how you can gauge that if not on a sales level. A few people think the GameCube was better than the Wii, does that mean the GameCube is bigger in the history of gaming than Wii? If the 360 gains more 90+ Metacritic titles this year than any other year then I'll concede in terms of game quality, 2010 was the biggest year in XBOX history. Until that time comes, I remain sceptical.

Sorry pal, but we're seeing gaming from a totally different perspective. I'm not gonna argue why and how is the 360 2010 console exclusive line up 10x superior to the PS3's one, but CANCEL???

I mean... WTF!!!

Why should a console line up PREVENT me from enjoy the games of the other console?

I meant that they're both as good as each other hence you can't use one to say the other isn't as good etc

i.e. 6x = 6y (cancel the 6's)

therefore x = y

That is rubbish, I have commented good and bad in 360, ps3 and wii topics, depends what the topic is about, I like all my game consoles (HD ones anyway) and have no problems with the ps3!

Ok well I tried to calculate monthly sales based on momentum, generation declines and key launches that I am aware of and a few predictions on possible price cuts etc. With those numbers come these:

Wii:

18.1 Million

 

PS3:

12.3 Million

 

XBOX 360:

9.55 Million

 

Nintendo DS:

24.7 Million

 

PSP:

6.75 Million

 

I feel I may be a touch high on DS and a touch low on 360 but there are too many unknowns so I'm going with these predictions.

360 games list for 2007 included: Halo 3, Bioshock, Mass Effect and Call of Duty 4. IMO 4 of the best games of this generation were launched on the 360 in 2007.  Half of those games were multi-platform games but good selling games nonetheless and good quality games as well. All 4 of those games were AAA games. Only Super Mario galaxy was AAA game.

Average per year:

80+. : 36.8 v 36.25

85+ : 16 v 17.75

90+ : 5.2 v 4.75

And seeing how we're talking about a year in particular, not overall, I think it's safe to say that there is no 'excess' involved here and the 360 will need to go above and beyond it's own averages if it's going to be considered the 'biggest year in XBOX history.'

Also what hype? I've seen one PS3 ad on TV all holiday season. I'm going by the way the generation is going, every console is down except the PS3 at the moment, it's not going to suddenly change any time soon.

So the 360 and PS3 are virtually identical on metacritic averages per year then.. thanks.. you intimated earlier the PS3 was far in excess.

One ad on TV all season!! wtf!? where do you live? what do you watch?

The PS3 has been blitzing the TV ads in the UK over the holidays and continues to do so now.

Australia, and I don't watch a lot of commercial TV.. But again it's Australia, Sony still have a relatively firm grasp on the minds of the public down here so yeah.. I did see billboards and bus stop ads though.

I know he is working for VGC, but this is trolling. The topic has nothing to do with the wii at all. Normal users would get a 3 day ban for this.

I was banned for three days, because I said Left 4 Dead was exclusive.


If anything, it's offtopic baiting. I mean, if we're going to start banning people for calling things "rubbish," let's see some consistency. What does the Wii have to do with this thread? Nothing. Nevermind that the 360 lineup that year stomped on all those games but Mario in Metacritic, which I don't like using, but it seems to hold some weight here objectively speaking.

I mean let's see, there was Halo 3, Mass Effect, Call of Duty 4, Bioshock, and The Orange Box. What's not to like there? And that's not even mentioning Crackdown, Forza 2, and PGR 4. Are we really going to sit here and pretend to act like the Xbox 360 didn't have a stacked lineup in 2007? That's pretty laughable.
