Continuing to expand the audience is a continuation of the strategy they had from the beginning. If they started targetting core with Natal they would be starting a new strategy, not continuing their original one. The hardware he is speaking of is the 360. You realize that right?

Wrong
From the article:
but the core titles for Natal will help it quickly find an audience while Microsoft markets to the more fickle casual consumer.
nice try but no, they are trying what I said they are trying

That wasn't a quote. That was something written by the journalist. The actual quotes speak about catering to both, but not having to market to the core.

No, it says more than that, it says that they are first going to bring it to their core, because they feel it'll be easiest to rack up sales, then market to the "casuals", the journalist was making the point clear

I guess you are referring to this bit:
"The core are going to buy the games, we don't have to focus on marketing those - well, we do, but those games in a lot of ways will sell themselves because they're such immersive and intense experiences that the core is going to buy, and buy disproportionally for the Xbox," spokesperson David Dennis told GamesIndustry.biz."
How can he be talking about Natal games when he mentions that they will be bought "disproportionally for the XBox"? If they were Natal games, they would be only on XBox.
