I love playing Mushihimesama, I still do from time to time on my PS2 emulator, it's as you say, the learning curve is really good for those not accostumed to SHUMP of this kind of intensity. Heck even on normal and slow speed you'll get the screen filled with bullets, it's almost insane xD

I just don't get the collision detection, is it just some part of you wich the bullets can't touch?

There's something in those type of games called hit-box, normally centered around the cockpit of your ship, which no bullet must touch, any other part of the ship is fine.

The problem with most hitboxes is that they are so small in some games, that you do not know if you are in the correct position with it.
