Considering he atleast specified the time (by January NPD) NSMBW is gonna outsell MW2 x360 version WW by that time so its a 3:1 victory...but someone must interview he one more time to understand what he wanted to mean!

Just a small point but to get the WW figures he would still need the NPD ones. I think that by being vague enough he had lots of outs. We all know that NSMBWii will eventually outsell combined PS3 and 360 MW2 sales anyway.

MW2 is selling much much faster than GTAIV and any other game released on HD. It's at 14 million already. Who knows where it'll end up? People like to claim Wii games have legs, but are you all forgetting about COD4's insane legs?

MKWII has only just crossed the 20 milion mark, and that's with the help of the Wii's 2 highest years in sales, so don't count on NSMB selling like MKWii did the year it was released.

Over time it's possible NSMB > MW2. More so than not, but it's not going to be anywhere near as quickly as MKWII > GTAIV.

Reggie was trying to keep the bet as open as possible so that although the whole 'I say this unequivocally' sounded like BIG CHAT, the terms of the bet remained vague making it less likely he could lose. The interviewer tried to pin him down more but he didn't do it.

It was a PR stunt after all, to keep NSMBW in the news. And it worked.

does it really matter at this point which one he meant, reggie is just going to say WW anyway come january npd unless NSMBWii actually does outsell MW2 360 in america alone.

All true, but I think it is all as finely balanced as with MKwii v GTAIV.

Yes, MW2 is selling faster than GTAIV but at the same time you forgot to point out that NSMBW is likewise selling faster than MKwii.

As I said earlier it will likely outsell MW2 but agree with you that it is not a given.

If my life however, depended on me making a call I what say yes, NSMBW will trump MW2.

True it's selling faster now, I think that's down to A) it releasing in the Xmas season and B) it's massive take up in Japan, I guess we'll have to wait until feb to see how it's legs are.

Lol, no, you are thinking backwards. It's MKWii that helped the Wii to have its highest year, not the opposite. You know, software sells hardware.  So don't count on the Wii having another low year after another huge system-seller like MSNB Wii.
