NSMB wii is doing outstanding in sales.

So far it has only dropped below 1 million sales world wide once. It has only been out for six weeks and already has 8.2 million sales. I did a little digging and compared it to Halo 3 since it seems to be the game to which many modern game sales are compared to. I am not comparing it to MW2 since it is multi-plat.

So here we go. It took halo 3 52 weeks of sales to acheive the 8.2 million sales. it only took 6 weeks for NSMB Wii. I don't know about you, but I find that to be really amazing.

Despite halo massive sales, it's niche game appealing only to certain market segment, while Wii is universal appeal and of legendary fun factor. With 4-player local multiplayer, there is really no reason for NSMB:Wii to stop selling for as long as Wii sells.

The real secret is the Japanese appeal. It's sales are very strong in NA and EU, but the Japanese sales are just insane. As of next week's numbers, it should be within a million units of Wii Fit and Wii Sports. It's a serious contender for biggest console game of the generation in Japan.

Hell, at this pace, I wouldn't rule out NSMBW beating out DS's champion software titles.

Comparing it to Halo 3 is unfair. It was always known that it would outsell it.

A comparison to NSMB:DS is fair, but I think the Wii game will win

A comparison to MW2 combined sales is not fair exactly, but much more so than Halo 3.

The most interesting comparison I think is NSMB:Wii vs Mario Kart:Wii

According to the chart it took Mario Kart Wii 26 weeks to achieve the 8.2 million mark.

That means it only took 1/4 the time for NSMB Wii. This will be a fun fight I think.
