I think its selling faster than every game ever made.

MW2, 13 million in the same timeframe.

It will probably be the fastest to reach 20 million though.

not on a single console, dude.

Seriously I would have bet for 8 million weeks with RolStoppable, and I'm pretty sure I would have won.

There are shortages in Japan of Mario Bros for the 7th week, so 8th week might see a slight boost.

7th week

230 000 Japan
600 000 America
300 000 Others

Another million FTW!

Well fastest game to 10 million is GTA: SA which did it in 9 weeks. When I did that comparison that wasn't taking into account that Japan release came a long time later but I believe it still works out that it crosses the 10 million mark after 9 weeks.

If we do the same for NSMB Wii it doesn't seem unlikely that it will surpass or tie this. 8.20 million in 6 weeks (4 weeks only in Japan) is quite incredible.

Although among two consoles, and with the most expensive launch ever. Although that's not a knock on the sales as much as Activision blowing that much just for a big PR point.

Important to note 2 consoles that combined have ALMOST the same install base as the Wii itself so that comparison is null. I guarantee 60 million 360's sold would have that same number if not more (since the xbox brand is more known for its shooters).

Make games, not war (that goes for ridiculous fanboys)

I may be the next Maelstorm or not, you be the judge http://videogamesgrow.blogspot.com/  hopefully I can be more of an asset than a fanboy to VGC hehe.

I'm not going to deny direct competition has likely caused the sales split for the HD consoles, but again, Nintendo didn't have to buy the opening week numbers.

You think NSMB would have sold anywhere near as fast as it did if it didn't launch during the holidays with plenty of advertising and the stongest brand power in the industry on the most popular console of all time?

Really, it's stupid saying bu-bu-but this or that. Facts are facts. MW2 is the fastest selling game of all time. NSMB will break plenty of record of its own. It already has 6 consecutive weeks over a million and that's just as impressive.

You're doing the same "bu-bu-but", and huge launches are not the same as selling fast, especially since that term takes legs into account, and Mario has more legs, and trying to pretend that's just the holidays shows you haven't paid attention to other Nintendo games that didn't launch around this time.

Would you two cut it out

MW2 is the fastest-selling game ever within a specific timeframe

NSMBWii may be the fastest-selling game ever within a different timeframe, but it remains to be seen.

The whole "fastest selling" term just bugs me. By what criteria is it measured? The most sales in a week? The total number of sales divided by the weeks it's been out? I'm pretty sure I heard that in a commercial for something (probably MW2) and it just drives me crazy. It's just so ambiguous.

"Now, a fun game should always be easy to understand - you should be able to take one look at it and know what you have to do straight away. It should be so well constructed that you can tell at a glance what your goal is and, even if you don’t succeed, you’ll blame yourself rather than the game. Moreover, the people standing around watching the game have also got to be able to enjoy it." - Shiggy
