Is it a BC 80gb phat? If so then keep it. If not then buying a slim and getting rid of it might not be such a bad idea if you really need to have a slim.

Huh? I got my 80gb fat MGS4 bundle PS3 and I put money that it has been used more than 99.9% of the people's systems on this forum (woot unemployment FTW....well not really). I have also had it off for a few days on vacations to Cali, Phoenix, etc. I sometimes alternate between it standing up and lying down and used a low powered vacuum on it once since I saw some dust. I currently live in AZ for about 2 years now but moving back to NYC in a couple of months. Oh and it's sitting on the carpet floor. Perhaps I abuse my systems too much but my PS2 which is roughly 7-8 years old still works fine as well (played Valkyrie Profile 2 on it this week since the memory card has high Seraphic Gate data).

My 60gig B/C PS3 bought in September 2007 after a proper clean up still works like new!

wellow light of death isn 't broken drive is that yellow light on ps3 button it has happend to me but on slim the chances are fewer but still it can happen

Other - clean the thing and keep it in a well ventilated area so it doesn't break down. If it is making more noise, it is probably your fault.

seriously if you are having no problems keep it until it starts playing up on you, that's what i did with my 60gb ps3, but i had to finally sell it this Christmas as it kept on freezing on me quite a bit;) I am now a happy PS Slim owner
