Everyone else: if you read the OP, the main premise about the use of 3D is that it *would* translate to new gameplay features. Without this, Ninty wouldn't touch it. Whether it translates to enough... who knows.

And yes - like Ninty are stressed about Wii sales ;)
...although this is Xmas. Who knows what sales will do in the coming months... (probably the same they have for the last 3 years!).

Have you played a game in 3d? If you have you should know that Ninty won't touch this with a 10 foot pole... It is not what Ninty does. Its not stable, doesn't have any standards and can't be standardized universally across all games.

Sega on the other hand would have been all over it in 1994...

As I expected, Sony recently announced that users will be able to enjoy 3D stereoscopic games and movies by updating their PS3 system with the supported firmware updates. The standards are solidifying, and if one console has it this gen, you can fully expect Nintendo to have it with their console (as an supported option) in the next gen given that it's likely to be years away.
